  • '52 KA 1.3 - Ford KA w/ multiple problems 8 May 2013 (Forum)
The first time I pulled over immediately and it didn't come back on.  The second time I put the blowers on max power and full heat, and the light went off after 5-10 secs. Obviously I don't feel safe driving at all now, and I'd like to check over the cooling system.  Any advice on what to check first and how to do it?
  • Ford Galaxy - Coolant warning light 9 Jun 2012 (Forum)
I filled the coolant to just below the Max.I took the car for a drive until the engine reached its normal driving temperature and when the car reached 10 miles the Stop, Check Coolant warning light appeared. I stopped the car and checked the coolant expansion tank and it was still just below Max. I checked around the engine and the rubber hoses for any water leaking and i could not find any water leaks. The engine has always stayed at normal driving temperature. The only thing that i can think of is maybe there is an airlock somewhere in the radiator system as the coolant level was below Min before i topped it up.
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 01 2.0 tddi, high fuel consumption 2 Feb 2008 (Forum)
i have just purchased a 2001 Mondeo tddi 2.0l zetec(60,000miles) and am getting really bad fuel consumption, ie, 26 mpg around town, this has been consistent for 4 weeks and i have been driving like a Sunday driver (im not a boy racer) the garage have done a diagnostic test which did not show any engine faults, but the oil level was 1/2l above max, the mechanic said this could be the problem so he drained it out, also the air flow sensor was unplugged (i noticed this about three weeks ago) so i plugged it back in but there was no noticeable difference to the engine running when i did so, have i bought a pig in a sack???

  • Mazda3 2.0 SE Nav 5dr - Buying Mazda3 2015 @80k £6,000 cash? 23 Apr 2025 (Forum)
Engine has no oil/leaks or rust visible and only light rusting on underside of car. It's got a 12month MOT from Ford dealership & 3month warranty. The engines got the louder cold-start sound, but the two queries I have are: - - rattle/ and separate high end clicking noise when running. Dealership engineer has confirmed is normal' but sounds similar to slack T.Chain tensioner noise on you tube - cracked dashboard display, is still readable Just wondering if this sounds a fair price from a dealership.

  • Ford, Seat or....Porsche?? 3 Jan 2006 (Forum)
He has three choices and wants impartial opinions. I keep telling him the RS naturally but he thinks I may be somewhat biased. 1) Ford Focus RS 2) Seat Leon Cupra R 3) Porsche Boxtser S I know you're all probably going to say the Porsche but assume that's an outside chance of being able to afford it so just assume it's a possibility whilst the other two are definites.

  • Toyota Carina E 1.6 auto 1995 - Auto transmission fluid level 10 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Did a fluid change on the auto box but it's so difficult getting the level right. The dipstick has a cold min and max mark and a hot min and max mark. I am checking the oil exactly according to the Haynes manual: making sure the oil is hot by driving for a few miles, then with the engine running going through the gears, then removing and wiping the dipstick, then reinserting and checking that the level is between the min and max on hot.

  • Our next car… please help? 18 Apr 2022 (Forum)
We like the look of estates, MPV’s or SUV’s. We’re thinking about a Skoda superb estate, another Galaxy or S-max. The VW Toureg is great but too expensive and I’m unsure if the mondeo estate could pull the trailer.  As we intend to keep the next car for the long haul the newer and less mileage the better.
