Oil Warning Light - Ford Mondeo 13 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Pulled off straight away as the next junction was close and checked the oil. I was surprised to find the level was over the max on the stick. When I restarted the light stayed off, so I drove the short trip home and fortunately the light stayed off. After about half an hour I re-checked the oil level and it was still way above the full mark. -
Drive the deal and dealer finance 1 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Hi, We have pretty much made the decision to by a new S-Max as our old Galaxy has given up the ghost and although I have always been wary of financing cars, I am willing to do it for the peice of mind of a new, warrantied car. After shopping around, it would appear that Drive the deal have the best prices on these and I have done some searching around and understand the principal of how DTD works. -
What motorway MPG for Transit sized van? 16 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Not flat out, just going with the flow at 70/75MPH. The goods won't be heavy, just bulky. I'm hopeful of 30-35MPG based on the fact my old S-Max would get 45-48MPG at those speeds. Thanks -
MINI Cooper R50 (2001 - 2007) - 03 Coolant looks like chocolate 14 Jan 2009 (Forum)
It runs fine, doesn't overheat and performance is ok - initial thoughts were head gasket, but never heard of it being a problem on this engine before.. Car had done 56,000 and got full MINI service history. Any ideas what might be the cause? s -
Effects of Speed on Fuel Economy 13 Jan 2008 (Forum)
They are saying that 50MPH is the most economical speed for the average car, travelling at 60MPH increases consumption by 21%, 70MPH +35%, 80MPH +42%, 90MPH +48%. I know these are averages but if I try to put some meat on the bones and use my car (1.8 TDCI S-Max) which gets around 50MPG at 60MPH: 50MPH - 60.5MPG 60MPH - 50MPG 70MPH - 44.8MPG 80MPH - 42.6MPG 90MPH - 40.9MPG Now to me the 50MPH and 70MPH seems reasonable but the 80MPH and 90MPH figures seem way off, I would get considerably lower MPG's that they estimate. -
Ford Focus TDCi 53 plate - OBD2 compliant ? 30 Dec 2012 (Forum)
The EEC directive for diesels says "all vehicles from 2004" and all new models from Jan 2003. Connecting my ELM327 to this , I get 'no response from ECU' using various s/w , but all works ok on my 2006 Fiesta (naturally) , and worked fine on my 2001 Focus petrol ... -
Ford Focus Mk1 2.0 Saloon - CV Joint replacement 2 Sep 2010 (Forum)
The o/s CV joint on my car is making a hell of a racket even on gentle parking manoevres. Have never changed a cv joint before, I assume on this car there is an inner and outer one. Is one known to wear more than the other and are they a relatively simple job for a home mechanic like me? -
Ford Ka - gearbox or clutch problem 6 Jul 2006 (Forum)
I have recentally (yesterday) found that my gearbox seems to have changed - It will go into a gear but it is either tough or I need to do it slowly. It seems to be the same for all changes but I am not sure what to do. The car is a S plate Ka and not very expensive and therefore dont want to pay out for repairs if not needed. Advice on what to do and potential costs would be greatly appreciated -
Ford Fiesta 2003 Duratec - Engine noises 9 May 2010 (Forum)
It runs fine although it does sound slightly wheezy at idle, and I’m sure I can feel a slight misfire on acceleration occasionally. NB all filters, plugs etc replaced 8K ago with ford parts. Also my coolant drops from max to min about once a week or every 800 miles. -
Ford Focus Zetec vs Ghia - please help! 29 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Am buying first secondhand car (I know - bless!) and have rightly or wrongly settled on a Ford Focus. Max budget is £4k, and I have to buy in next 2 days for various reasons. Have seen loads now and it's come down to 2 alternatives: Focus Zetec, 2000, 2 prev owners (originally from NI, so sort of an import)), 60k miles, reasonable condition but with some rust on the inside, which worries me, £3900. -
Ford Fiesta 98 - Fiesta Heater Valve 21 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Hello.. I have an S reg ford fiesta, recently my heating died and I replaced the heater valve; which cured the problem. Now, after about 3 weeks the heating is only blowing cold AGAIN. I've checked the valves connected, the 2 valves from the engine are hot, the two valves going into the car are cold - So the problem is halfway (Heater valve unit :/) Unless, is there anything else that can be causing this? -

ford focus "drop rods" 2 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Hi, My Focus has developed a "knocking/rattle" on the o/s front end. It is just like a failed shocker, i am told it may well be a "drop rod" problem. I believe these are similar to track rod ends but vertical, and are connected to the anti roll bar. Never heard of drop rods before, is this a new thing ford have brought out, had a few cars in my time, (last one a sierra) but never come across these. -
Ford Focus 2013 - 17" v 18" alloys. 12 Jul 2015 (Forum)
The rental car had done similar miles, same model year, same engine, basically the same car (Zetec S -v- our titanium) driving on same roads, same driving style. There is one major difference however, my own car has the optional 18" alloys fitted, the Zetec S had 17" std Zetec S wheels. And what a difference 17" rubber makes. -
Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 1997 1.8 Central locking - n/s/r door not working 7 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Hi all, I believe there is no power getting to the n/s/r door central locking motor as it fails to react (either lock, unlock or deadlock) when the other doors are locked or unlocked. I have stripped the panel off the inside of the door and peeled back the foam sheet (this has never been done before so I took care to carefully preserve the mastic sealant as much as possible) but I can't see any obvious fault with the wiring or the locking solenoid. -
