  So you can now have 90, 115 or 130ps 2.0's or 155ps 2.2 Mondeo diesels, certainly a wide range. Since the current Mondeo was launched in 2000 Ford have had a lower powered 90ps diesel, though they have only now announced that they will bring it to the UK, why?

  There a fairly big list of criteria new car needs to fit! This is sole family car, so needs to be fairly economical to run - (at least, no really big 4x4's) At least 6 seats Not too low slung - We live out on the moors and lanes get big ruts - 405 just about ok, old Mondeo would lose it 's exhaust from time to time. And this is the stumbling point - must occasionally tow small horsebox - combined weight of 2 ponies 600kg max, plus trailer weight .

  Have noticed here in the South West that the baseball cap brigade are moving up market. It seems they are no longer interested in Ford/Vauxhall tinware, but are belting around in old Merc 190`s and old E 30 BMW`s. Is it any wonder that BeeM drivers (and soon Mercs) are getting such a bad reputation ????

  Why's it taken Ford so long to produce its hot Mondeo. This was due in January, and now it seems that it will be launched in May. Have they had problems? Looking at the spec its perhaps not as hot as it seems. 170 bhp in a car with the size and weight of the Mondeo will not win any prizes.

    I’ve removed the O/S driveshaft but it’s not possible to drift the N/S driveshaft out from the other side, as there’s something between them in the way. I’ve tried levering with large screwdrivers and crowbars but the webs on the casting make it difficult to get enough purchase and I've hit the wall with that approach.

  I have been looking at a car on autotrader.co.uk that is being sold by a dealer in Peterborough. It is a 2012 s line Audi A4. It looks like a lovely car but I had a look at the MOT history on carcheck.co.uk and found that it has basically barely been driven at all between its last 2 MOTs (almost 94k miles in June 2016 and only 20 miles less in July 2015).

  I drove for a while behind a Mondeo TDCi yesterday, that was blowing big puffs of black smoke out of it's exhaust for most of the time. We were not travelling particularly quickly (60 mph max) and for part of the time we were travelling through a 30 mph limit. It was smoking badly under the most gentle acceleration and it is just one of many that I have seen do this. Is this not recognised as a widespread problem by Ford and have they tried to rectify it?

  OK, help needed as I am unable to make a decision. What should I buy? I want to spend max. £4,000 plus the value of my 205XLD (£500??). It must have at least four doors.
