  • Focus CVT 21 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Could be that he is right. I had already drawn my own conclusion by that time, which was that it is strange that Ford would want to keep back the transmission for the Focus, when it is losing sales that it could be making with the C-Max CVT. The latest development is that I received two phone calls last night, from one of the aforesaid salesmen.
  • Tracking or stupidity? Ford Focus 26 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Hi all, just taken ownership of a Ford Focus 1.8 Ghia. Anyway - been out in it and it\'s a wonderful car - certainly a step up from the Fiesta! My question is perhaps picky but will nag me otherwise. In order to keep the car straight, the wheel is just off by a few degrees.

  • Ford Focus Saloon 2006 - sticking calipers 24 Aug 2012 (Forum)
I recently took my car for a service to local main ford dealer I explained I had a problem with the front brakes the n/s seemed to be binding. I collected the car and was told the fault was due to brake dust, the problem never improved and when I checked on the internet sticking calipers seems to be a common problem.

  • Ford Focus Mk1 - Ford Focus Mk1 or Mk2, Zetec.. Or ST170 24 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Is it false economy if it needs constant repairs etc.,    I see no end of Mk1's on the road which is a good advert  to the quality, but my gut feeling is to hold on until I might be able to afford a Mk2, that said they still seem out of my budget. If a car this old is really not an issue and I check F/S/H service stamps etc, then would the ST170 be worth looking at as it seems to have everything- only thing that concerns me is the mpg which if I am on a tight budget it seems daft to buy something that is going to consume fuel like there's no tomorrow!
  • small 6-7 seat MPV - Best used small MPV (£5k - £10k) 4 Aug 2010 (Forum)
I'd do that again except for the lack of space for all the car seats plus another passenger, so maybe the FRV is the answer (wouldn't even have to be a diesel as the petrol is quite efficient). Ford S-Max looks great, but I'm worried by the reliability - lots of problems reported, which is a shame as Ford reliability has been pretty good in the last 10 years. Advice appreciated.  Thanks, Optimus
  • Can you recommend a hatchback with an easy access boot? 14 Mar 2022 (Ask HJ)

  • ford cmx/ Xsara PIcasso/ Other mpv - Dilemna between cars... 6 Feb 2021 (Forum)
This is what I want: Higher seating position (hence me wanting an MPV, just got rid of my 4x4 which was guzzling fuel) Automatic Reliable Good mpg  Max 3000/3500 pounds I don't do much miles, 8000 max a year so petrol would be best I think.   My choices, after doing some research online seem to be: CMax or Xsara Picasso or Megan Scenic (possibly a model 3) (although I am weary of the fuel consumption of older models)  Definitely no C4 Picasso due to the faulty auto gearbox   I have seen a few cmax (2006-2009) but there seems to be a problem with the suspension arms, a "disease" that costs 500 pounds to repair.

  • mk1 2001 ford focus - rear end suspension problem 27 Aug 2015 (Forum)
