  Gearbox has failed on my four year old S Max Auto.   I have only had the vehicle for a year(Bought from a Ford Garage) but Vehicle is out of warranty and Ford want over £4000 to fix it!  They are unwilling to make any contribution to the repairs, but I dont think its right that a gearbox should fail after only four yers.

  Hi Does anyone know if a 2.2 TDCI version of the S-MAX is on the cards? I read reports that it is due early 2008 but a call to the S-MAX brand manager revealed that no version is planned. Anyone else have any information.

  Does anyone know if Ford sells (or did sell) a 4 wheel drive version of the S-Max or the Galaxy?  I thought that I saw a road test a few years ago where they took an AWD version of the S-max up to the Alps. A 4 wheel drive Galaxy would be very handy.

  Hi there, I have just done a job on my 2008 S-Max 2.0 TDCi and am on the final part, fitting a new drive shaft retaining bolt. It fits a 13mm socket but my Haynes manual says torque to 80Nm + 90 degrees, and my eBay manual (seems to be a Ford one) says 45Nm + 80 degrees.

  I've had my 2.2tdci S-Max for a week or so now. The engine is basically the same as in recent Peugeots and Citroens, but as far as I can tell from official Ford press releases and also from peering into the engine compartment, it uses a single turbo rather than the twin sequential turbos, though it still hits 175bhp max.

  I have a 2006 ford S-max manual petrol.   The car starts but then stalls. Once started,  I press on the accelerator, but no revs and then the car stalls.   When I turn the ignition on, I am not hearing the fuel pump priming.

  Can you self-calibrate the fuel computer on a ford S-Max. Mine is about 15% optomistic and I know that you could self-calibrate the FC in the Mondeo's by using the two dials/steering wheel controls. If it can be done on an S-MAx, how? I know I can always deduct 15% off the claimed number but if it is easily fixable, I rather would.

  I've got 2 keys for my S-MAX. One works fine all the time. The 2nd key won't open the car if it has been left for over 20 minutes, but if I open the car with the working key then the 2nd key will lock it and open it again no problem.

  Hi, I have a slight whine on the steering on my wife's S-Max. I took it into my local garage for a service yesterday and also asked the mechanic to cast his eye over the steering to see what the problem was. He said he is 98% sure that its the pump and will be an expensive job.
