  • From Marinas to Carinas: Britain’s least exotic car show remains a dullard’s delight 22 Jul 2019 (News)
Cars that used to be mainstream but are now a rarity included a 1989 Vauxhall Cavalier 2.0i CD, two exceptional Rover 200 R8s, a 1985 Nissan Sunny 1.5 GL and a 1980 Ford Cortina 2.0 L. Slightly rarer models included a 1971 Fiat 128, 1979 Colt Sigma and a 1973 Toyota Crown Custom Estate, along with a wonderful 1978 Chrysler Horizon with just 318 miles on the clock, originally won as a game show prize by someone who never used it.  Judging took many hours of discussion with owners, car inspections and deliberation in the estate café, as owners waited patiently on the lawns for the final verdict.
  • Driven: Euro6 Nissan Navara 18 Nov 2016 (News)
.    Off-road the   Navara   is as good as the   Mitsubishi L200   and   Ford Ranger .  We've driven the Nissan on everything, from heavy mud to deep snow and sand dunes. The Navara takes it all in its stride, although we have lost some bits of bodywork along the way, with the front underbody protection prone to catching tree stumps and coming loose.  The switchable four-wheel drive system is excellent though, with the torque packed 2.3-litre engine working seamlessly with the high and low gear ratios.

  • The MoT Files - the full story 13 May 2012 (News)
The performance of Swedish brand Volvo raised a few eyebrows though with a pass rate of only 57.4 per cent, less than the likes of Ford and Volkswagen. We expected it to be considerably higher given the typical Volvo owner. When it came to analysing individual models we set a minimum of 2000 MoTs per year. Otherwise the results would be dominated by high end cars like Aston Martins and Bentleys of which you’d expect a high success rate given their price tag and the fact that their owners, you’d imagine, take great care of them.

  • 4x4s spotted in the classifieds 20 Jul 2011 (News)
Luxurious, well built, speedy, stable on the road and more than capable off it, the Range Rover is arguably one of the finest vehicles ever made. And yet you can have a 2002 model for less than a new Ford Focus... granted it’ll cost a lot more to run than a Focus, but that’s beside the point. This model is a TD6, so it’s more economical than the big petrol V8, returning 25mpg on the combined cycle.
