  • TVR returns in style with an all new Griffith 8 Sep 2017 (News)
This is no concept either - it will go on sale in late 2018 priced at £90,000. And we can't wait. It's powered by a 5.0-litre Ford V8 engine that's been 'enhanced' by Cosworth and has a six-speed manual gearbox. Despite the lack of turbochargers, it still produces 500PS. It also gets a bespoke lighter flywheel and clutch. Designed by Gordon Murray, him of McLaren F1 fame, the 2018 Griffith has a front-engined layout, a full ground-effect aerodynamic package and 50:50 weight distribution.

  • Supermarkets go to war over fuel prices 29 Jun 2017 (News)
Find out with Real MPG The reduction in the cost of petrol means that the driver of an average family car - like the Ford Focus - with a 55-litre tank can now fill up for about £2.10 less than in April. This is Sainsbury's second price cut this month, with a 2p-per-litre reduction on 15 June. However, with the wholesale cost of oil falling - reaching its lowest price of 2017 last week - further reductions are expected.  RAC fuel spokesman Simon Williams: “This is great news for motorists and we hope it will spark a fuel cut frenzy on forecourts across the country.

  • Cost of petrol and diesel falls 5 Jun 2017 (News)
The reduction in the cost of petrol means that the driver of an average family car - like the Ford Focus- with a 55-litre tank can now fill up for £1 less than in April. It's even better news for diesel, which can now fill up for an average of £1.40 less than earlier in the year. The South of England is home to the most expensive fuel in the UK - with unleaded at 117.25p-per-litre and diesel at 118.43p-per-litre.
  • World's first 'flat pack truck' revealed 8 Sep 2016 (News)
It also means it has at least one similarity with the McLaren F1... Despite being only 4.2 metres long - shorter than a Ford Focus - the OX can carry a payload of 1900kg, almost double that of a pick-up like the Mitsubishi L200. It can be converted to carry up to 13 people, eight 44-gallon drums or three Euro-pallets.

  • First sketches of next Vauxhall Vivaro and Renault Trafic emerge 4 Feb 2014 (News)
Both wear bold front-end styling, with plenty of design cues taken from the respective companies’ passenger cars, as is the case with the latest version of the Ford Transit Custom . It’s also clear from the Vivaro image that a minibus version will be available. If the Transit Custom is the yardstick against which the new Trafic and Vivaro will be measured then interiors will feature plenty of creature comforts and technology more familiar to passenger cars, such as active safety systems and better standard equipment.
  • Take a break: The Great North Road in 1939 14 Jan 2014 (News)
We get a fascinating insight into driving in the 1930s - where drivers clearly took a gung-ho approach to overtaking. The mix of cars is also interesting - Austin, Morris and Ford saloons share the spookily clean and empty roads with relatively rare and exotic MGs and Morgans. And from the perspective of a 21st century motorist, it looks like driving heaven. The roads are roomy and well-sighted, with far fewer road signs cluttering the view, while the towns and villages - now mostly bypassed - you travel through on the route north are pretty, charming and offer plentiful stopping points.

  • Volkswagen unveils performance Amarok 14 May 2013 (News)
Sadly it's just a concept at the moment and there's no word from Volkswagen whether it will make it into production but with other powerful pick-ups like the Ford Ranger 3.2 TDCi and Toyota Hilux 3.0 D-4D, the Amarok would be in good company, although it's unlikely to have all that power... The concept car was unveiled at the annual GTI enthusiasts gathering at Lake Wothersee in Austria which is surounded by some of the best roads in Europe.

It approached famed hot-rodder Nick Butler‘s Auto Imagination to come up with the car – and boy, did he create something rather special.

  • Three More Useful Websites 25 Apr 2005 (News)
www.motinfo.gov.uk I've also discovered a brilliant device for checking whether there are any Trouble Codes stored in your car's on-board computer. Last month, the MIL (engine check light) on my 2000 Ford Focus lit up as I was travelling down the M4. Our local dealer wanted £55 just to read the code and wouldn't give any indication of what it might cost to repair the fault after that. I decided to buy a DIY diagnostic tool for £70.
