• 2003 Chrysler Voyager - Reco Engine in Voyager Misfires - ECU issue? 7 Jan 2014 (Forum)
  It seems to be a timing issue. Suspecting it might be an incompatibility issue between the new engine and my old ECU, I contacted the engine supplier and he sent me the ECU from the car that the replacement engine came from. The ECU that he sent me was very different from the one in my car. Looking up the part number I have determined that the replacement ECU (and therefore the replacement engine) is from a Dodge Caravan, not a Voyager.

  Is an Eeprom fault signs of an ECU fault? Can a used ECU be swapped between vehicles or does it have to be programmes to your vehicle? Is an ECU repair better than a new ECU? Are ECU Re-programming worth while?   Cheers, Kev

  So the ECU is not showing these faults ~ as ECU dash light stays off when engine is running and shows no faults indicated when connected to a diagnostic tool? Has the ECU failed ?

  I have heard that Ford dealers have far more advanced readers that can give Ford specific codes that will not show up on other readers and that their readers/computers will update the ECU software? Although there is nothing apparent wrong with the car and no codes show on my reader, would it be beneficial to get any ford codes read and ECU updated? I' also told that disconnecting the battery for 10mins ‘resets’ the ECU and it then relearns all the settings as you drive?

  Hi, my ECU on my Y reg Zafira needs replacing. It is making my car have a slight misfire which will fail the mot on emissions. It has a dozen codes when read and everything else has been ruled out so it must be the ecu.

  I have an 807 2.2 HDi on a 53 plate when using my OBD11 flash my power failed in the laptop while downloading the file from the ecu. I can no longer get access. I have upgraged to Lexia 3 PP2000 diagnostic recognises vehicle but will not connect or cannot communicate with ecu. I have decided to try another ecu after main dealersaid they cannot help.

  This vehicle stopped and wont start, save for running for about 4 seconds and then cutting out. My local garage charged £250.00 to not find the problem.They seem to think its a ecu problem and sent it off to a company who said they were unable to test this type of ecu but could supply me with a new one for £500+. I had the ecu back and sent it to the ECU Doctor in Plympton.He says he is unable to test this type of ecu but can supply me with a new one for £300+.

  The conversion turned out to be very badly installed so I have had new fitted. The garage are struggling with the ECU on both petrol and LPG. I am to,d when plugging in the diagnostics tester all is fine for a while and then the ECU zeros on all fuel related sensing whilst all other ECU values are fine. When running on petrol emissions are a challenge but it will drive as I am told the ECU continues to operated with predefined settings but as LPG works in real time it won't run.

  Hi I loaded a new map to my Citroen Xantia lastnight, using a KWP2000 USB box but about halfway through, the power cut out in my house and on trying to reload the file I'm getting either the message ECU not found or ECU not kicking. I hope there's something that I can do with the KWP2000 to repair the ECU as I assume it is only a software issue. I don't really want to spend money on a new ECU unit if this isn't necessary.

  Hi, my Son has cheap Cinquecento which recently required a new flexi exhaust section, no problem changed the section but on firing it up the ECU light came on and driving the car it is abruptly rev limited to about 3 K. The local agents want £65 to read the ecu not on for a 5 minute job so can anyone assist here, or does anyone know how to read or at least reset the ECU.

  Hi,I have been reading about some 2.0HDI Picassos suffering from terminals on the ECU corroding away.I would like to unplug my ECU to check mine for corrosion.Is it ok to unplug the ECU or is this a no no as it may upset the set up of things.Or are there any things I need to be aware of??
