  • Renault Scenic 1.4 16v fidji 53 reg - Scenic 1.4 16v poor cold running 15 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Hi, I have a renault scenic 1.4 16v (Engine code K4J) Had a coil fail causing a missfire so replaced all 4 coils with beru ones and also a set of new spark plugs from renault. This fixed the missfire. I have had the timing belt done, new water pump, new coolant, oil and filters all replaced in the last 3 months. Car was running like new. However now after leaving the car stood overnight or for more than 6-7 hours so the engine is cold, it seems to hesitate after you pull away most noticably in second gear between 2000-3000rpm this only last for a few minutes and once things get warm the car runs fine.

  • Vauxhall Meriva - Cracked head on Vauxhall Meriva 18 Oct 2010 (Forum)
the garage replaced the following - inlet cam exhaust cam timing chain end gasket valves head set oil filter But during the last few weeks it has started to loose coolant and there is signs of water in the oil - milky mayo like build up on the oil cap. Also it has been difficult to start in the mornings. Took it back to the garage and was sugested it could be a blown head gasket.
  • Ford Ranger - Cracked head after dealer returned it with no cool 18 Jun 2010 (Forum)
After the repair I collected it from the dealer and set off home only to find after 12-15 miles that the temp gauge had gone in to the red. I stopped  and found that the dealer had not put any coolant in the engine. I wrote to Ford and the dealer to put them on notice that I was concerned that it may have damaged the head and could cause a problem in the future. The Head has now cracked and Both Ford and the dealer are denying any liability and are being very un helpful.
  • Ford Fiesta (2000 - 2002) - 02 1,25 Heater Blowing hot air and overheating 20 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Hi all, My son has a fiesta 1.25 02 freestyle, When he was driving it up the dual carriageway the temp gauge suddenly went up high and the fans kicked in, he called out the breakdown truck and they brought him home they said it could be the water pump have also noticed that the heater was only blowing hot air, so I pass the car on to my mechanic friend to have a look at it. he replaced the thermostat and housing and flushed the system down and refilled it with new coolant and he also changed the heater valve and he is going to change the temp sensor on friday.this has sorted the high temp problem but the heater is only blowing cold air but when I take off the electrical connection off the heater valve it will blow hot air any advice on the problem will be gratefully recived, sorry if it sounds long winded but I wanted to give you as much info as possible thanks.
  • Vauxhall Corsa B (1993 - 2000) - 99 1.2 Car didn't start - causes? 21 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I then put the throttle right down and left it to turn over for about 6-8 seconds (yes I know this does the starter motor no good) and it finally kicked into life. The car then ran perfectly and has started first time every since instantly. No loss of oil, coolant, no warning lights, everything is normal. What could have caused this? I am worried inc ase it happens again. It has been very wet here so could it just be the battery terminals which got damp?
  • Vauxhall Vectra B facelift (1999 - 2002) - 00 2.0 Head gasket or not? 18 Aug 2009 (Forum)
The car was sat doin nothing for 12 months and i bought it at 124,000 Its now done 127,000 and its started to back pressure in the coolant, so seeping out water out of the expansion tank and rock solid pipes. The car runs spot on, no misfire or sluggishness, no vapour out of the exhaust, temperture is spot on as well. Ive replaced the expansion cap as these do play up, but still doin the same.
  • Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 1996 2.5 V6 - Head Gasket Repair 13 Feb 2009 (Forum)
To start the record, the symptoms are signs of steam coming from the tail pipe(s). Using a small amount of coolant, with some evidence of gases in the reservoir. It looks like it is early signs of HG failure and that is why I am hoping this product can do a realtively good fix, for a fraction of the price of a new HG!
  • Ford Fiesta (1995 - 1999) - Bye bye Fiesta. Bye bye! 2 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Well. After my problems with the coolant tank, I've only gone and snapped the car keys today - stuck right in the lock now. So I'm now using the red master key! I think Someone is trying to tell me something! If I persist with the car - which is now more doubtful - I'd need a new lock and a spare key - at least £60 - plus 4 part-worn tyres when it's next serviced in February - plus an interim service.
  • Peugeot Partner Combi (2001 - 2004) - 2000 2.0 Error code help please! 30 Oct 2008 (Forum)
the guy that read these codes wasnt sure what i should do next and seemed a bit vague about it. I think that 1521 relates to the clutch switch. 1608 coolant temperature alert. 0230 fuel pump primary circuit failure 0191 i am unsure other than the in tank fuel pump related beit electrical or the pump itself. I would appreciate any help or advise on what i should do next.
  • Rover 75 (1999 - 2005) - 2003 2.0 Radiator fan 14 Oct 2008 (Forum)
This is irrespective of the ambient temperature and the type/speed of driving I have been doing. Surely the fan should only operate when the coolant temperature rises to a certain level? In normal driving the temperature seems OK with the needle in the middle (i.e. as pointing west on a compass). Earlier in the year I had the common 75 problem of a flooded ECU.
  • Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 2003 Dual fuel DOC 1.6. Oil loss from the engine. 17 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Vehicle has started to loose oil. No patches on the drive and the sump area is dry. Coolant is clear of any oil. Head and all gaskets on the engine are also bone dry. No apparent external oil leaks are visible. Exhaust is slightly sooted at the rear box exit pipe and once or twice starting a small puff of blue smoke has been observed that burns off very quickly.
  • Peugeot 205 (1983 - 1997) - 1.9 GTi overfuelling 10 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Should it be supplying a constant run of fuel across the rail? The only thing i can think of is maybe the coolant temp sensor but the worry i have is the amount of fuel it is pumping, it quarter fills a 5 litre jerry can in about 20 seconds of cranking! Somebody please help!!! Changing the ecu sorted an injector problem i had but i still have overfuelling!
  • Making an offer on a scooter (Kymco) 1 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Can anyone give me an idea of how much lower I can bargain this price down to. 2. Since the scooter has been in the showroom for one year +, should the engine oil, gear oil, coolant and brake fluid be changed as it may have deteriorated within this time. 3. The scooter was taken in and out of the showroom to view it outside. The mirror caught on the door and has a scratch. How much do these mirrors cost to replace, and should I use this as a bargaining point?
  • Mondeo 2.2 - Basic Maintanence. 10 Jun 2007 (Forum)
the car is 2.2 Titanium X Ford Mondeo Diesel on an 06 plate. I have just checked under the bonnet and noticed the following: a. The Engine Coolant Reservoir is low. Is this a posh term for the radiator? If so i have some summer anti-freeze from Texaco, can I just top it up with this? b. The power steering fluid reservoir is on minimum, i cannot find any fluid in our garage, what specification do I need to buy and any advice on the best place to get some (again, do I just top it up once I buy it?)
  • ECU and engine sensors 16 Feb 2007 (Forum)
They may have been run in differently and will clearly get driven differently, but I wonder how much may be due to the differences between cars in the sensors that the ECU monitors (air temp, mass flow, coolant temp, elec system voltage among others). These are obviously made to fairly strict tolerances, but if they are slightly out of calibration, how does the ECU know? If the ccolant sensor reads 5C low, then the fuelling may be affected because the ECU thinks that the engine is not fully warm - as an example.
  • Fiesta HG Gone :( 9 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I am not sure what to do, I am not taking this car in to be fixed, I will just either have to live with it (its not drinking much coolant yet) or pray K-SEAL fixes it. I have also never seen the fan kick in, so I am guessing this has failed and caused the HG failure :( I feel like a fool. Also when trying to fix the temp gauge I discovered the reason it dosn't work is because its been disconnected on purpose :( The thermostat is at least still connected.
  • bmw warranty 17 May 2006 (Forum)
I bought the warranty when I purchased the car 3 years ago from the BM dealer. The dealer called yesterday stating that the car required a coolant and brake fluid change, these however were done only last year by the dealer !!. They also stated that the water pump required changing which would be done on warranty. This morning they phoned back saying that the suspension bushes had deteriorated so badly that the car was not safe to drive, and would not be under warranty.
  • Diesel High Mileage??? 24 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Reallistcally how many miles can you see me getting out of my engine? Say 200k or more than that? I know from prior research to keep a close eye on the coolant as this can cause problems, and also head gasket failure is common. But no problems so far. Thanks in advance Rich Cheshire
  • '95 Omega 3.0 V6 - mayo around oil fille 2 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Is this a sign of impending HG doom and will it require (as always) open wallet surgery? Background: The car doesn't use any oil and the coolant level is pretty constant. In the past few months it has been used almost daily for very short journeys (<2 miles) but every couple of weeks gets a long M'way run too - beginning of Feb drove to Paris, Xmas/NY went to Inverness etc. and the occasional italian tune-up.
