  • Ford s-max - Ford S-max reconditioned engine woes 25 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Hi all, we are seeking some advice re our  broken car! Our 2.5 petrol s-max suffered a terminal engine issue last june(2013) requiring either a new engine or reconditioning the existing engine. We chose to recondition because a new engine was more than the cost of replacing the car.
  • HGF 150 miles from home. Fantastic! 21 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Coming back from a day trip in Perth, within 5 minutes from my relatives house to which we were staying, it became apparent something?s wrong. You know how it is, you?ve got that feeling in your gut something?s not quite right, but you can?t put your finger on it. Performance below 3000rpm became very poor and there was a constant misfire which was getting progressively worse, to the point where progress was in a ?

Brunstrom on speeding. Richard Brunstrom is fond of citing 19th century philosopher John Stuart Mill?s views on civil liberty ? that people?s freedoms should only be constrained to prevent them harming others. ?If you choose to damage your body, that really is a matter for yourself. If you choose to damage society then there is a different issue in play.?

RE: 'Reduced circumstance' and 'Gearsick' I'm surprised, given he likes and recommends it, that HJ didn't recommend the Mazda CX-3 2.0 petrol SE-L Nav Auto for these people - a decent drive, ride comfort is fine on the 205/60 R16 tyres and the seating position is raised compared to the 2 and 3 - essentially a small CX-5 with a very nice auto box for the petrol engine. Neither party said they needed huge boot space (the CX-3's is average if you avoid the Sport model and get the add-on [expensive] space-saver tyre/wheel). I found it very good to drive when I tested it, just rather over-priced when new. I would hope if the people above go for a test drive in the newer KIAs/Hyundais (not the old Venga/ix20) that they check the ride quality, as the review on the HJ website side they were rather firm riding, like CX-3's Sport version.
  • Ford Fiesta - condensation in fiesta headlight 29 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Hi all, just a quick query, if i may?. My daughter has a standard 2005 Fiesta 1.25 Zetec and the O/S headlamp is always full of condensation, the N/S is fine. It's becoming a pain in the butt, as in the past three weeks she's had to have two blown bulbs replaced. The car was dealer bought a few months back, sadly now out of warranty, although all the lights were fine when she bought it.

  • How's the motor trade now? 7 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Need to get a new job in the near future.I was in the motor trade from the early 70's to the early 90's and got out because of the very low basic wage, the August and January new car delivery spikes, the preponderence of the Leasing companies, the gradual erosion of new car margins (which I was paid on) in favour of retrospective bonuses (which I was not),and the raping of the sales dept. by the service dept. preparing used cars for sale. The previous credit crunch also meant that almost nobody could get credit.

  • Van with most reliable automatic transmission? 5 Sep 2011 (Forum)
Unfortunately it has to be automatic. This may not be entirely accurate, but from the sources I have read thus far. Vw t4's had chocolate box transmissions, the t5's took until 2005 to sort most problems out. 2005-2009 aren't any great shakes in smoothness of changes. the latest with dsg boxes are problematic and require strict maintenance and v expensive to fix.
