  What is the difference in practical terms i.e owning/driving pleasure/stability etc in a front wheel and a rear wheel drive?Why are most cars front wheel drive whereas cars like BMW/MERCS (which keep getting top marks from all motoring journalists esp likes of 5 series BMW)rear wheel drive.And how do the likes of Audi quattro compare to the these rear wheel drives.Your thoughts on the subject will be very much appreciated.

  Firstly, surprisingly low take up - come one people, I want to see more cars, people and stuff. Secondly, now *I* know who is the girlie on the BMW, and why. Anyone who had some interest in BMW bikes 20ish years ago should push someone on this site for an answer - its a good story. Of course, I couldn't tell you who to push. Nice new back door though.

  I guess there is no simple answer to this We have a 2012 BMW X1 Diesel. Its only got 80k miles on it and has full bmw service history. All good so far but we have a dilemma. My wife has a company car so this is a 2nd car. The cost of  BMW repairs worries us ( none yet !
• Audi A4/BMW 3 - Seeking for a new long-term car 7 Aug 2023 (Forum)
  It seems to me like the best options on the market are: 1. Audi A4 2.0TDI (2014-2016). 2. BMW 3 2.0d (2014-2016). I'm amazed by the low running costs and road tax for these cars. Along with decent reliability on WhatCar? Can you please advice me if I'm correct with my assertions, or perhaps there are other models you would recommend?

  There have been several reported sightings of an unmarked police car in this area and I believe it may have been next but one in a queue behind me yesterday.  What looked like an old souped up black BMW, black windscreens, with various neon etc lights at the front including the blue-purple flasher variety.  Plus what looked like extra powerful headlights when flashed. Query: If this vehicle flashes me indicating (presumably) that I should stop, am I legally obliged to take any notice?

The main dealers can do this, by performing a lookup against my car?s VIN and running a detailed ?Vehicle History Report?, but won?t do it in the depth I require unless they receive written authorisation from the previous owner.

  Looking at the Alfa Guilia Veloce (280 BHP), a BMW 440i Gran Coupe or the Jag XE (300 BHP).  All 3 are petrol automatics. I've negotiated (to a point) deals on all 3 cars.  The cheapest is the Alfa (£32k), next is the Jag (£33k) and then BMW (£37k).

  She lost her husband about a year ago so has to drive sometimes to maintain a normal lifestyle - shopping etc. She has a BMW Mini automatic. I am aware that a steering assist ball could be fitted at about the 10 to 12 position on the wheel to allow her to steer with her left hand. Without going through some sort of disabled assessment would it be legal to fit and use a steering ball?

  Before it goes i get a beep, then the battery light comes on along with the traction control light and the handbrake light which goes from red to yellow. Its been to my BMW dealer and they have charged me £270 to tell me they dont know what it is. I have had a tensioner fitted to the top timing chain, and had the crank and camshaft sensors changed to try and resolve the problem and nothing.

I got it second hand about a month ago. I drove it to the store about 5 miles that morning came home got back in it 3 hours later and it just cranks but, will not start.

  HI all, first post here. Am in process of buying a new car (BMW X1), and have negotiated a £500 discount off the new car, as well as a decent price trade in for my existing car, and am overall satisfied with the price. The dealer has now emailed me finance forms, and has additionally (without discussion with me) informed me that he has "been able" to agree with his manager to provide me with GAP insurance for free (ie is listed as me buying it for £399, and is now giving me an £899 discount, effectively making this free).

  John, We have been looking for a 3-5 year old  automatic car for past 3 weeks but not getting anywhere. We always owned old BMW's which never gave more than 19 mpg. What we need in new car? - Great comfort as BMW, all modern facilities,good MPG and great value for price. We have viewed VW golf 1.6 TDI  (2011), Toyota  Auris Hybrid (2011) , Seat leon (2013- manual).

  I am in need of a 5 door car due to a new baby; I have an 2007 Audio A3  TDI 2.0 Sport in good general condition, 1 year MOT and just been serviced which I will trade in. It has done 70k miles I am looking at a 2007 BMW 3 Series 318D  2.0 Estate which is up for £7000 from a main dealer. Seems it was serviced in April at the same milage it is now so one assumes it's been on the books for a while. This has done 83k miles Given the somewhat close value of the 2 cars what should I be looking at paying?

  It burns no oil at all. The private mechanic I use can find no faults. Exasperated I paid a BMW dealer for full diagnostics and they could find nothing wrong either. I am flummoxed. Would a Remap help? I am thinking the fuelling is wrong, or alternatively would increased turbo pressure help?

  Last time i was doing 70 in the fast lane of the M40 in rush hour traffic volume and had to roll to the hard shoulder with the hazzards flashing. Please help - my local garage and a BMW specialist have both failed to correct this issue

  Hi Everyone i have a bmw 3 series 318i reg 2002 and have had a few problems with it in the last 3-4 months. i cover 30miles each way to work and on each journey usually when accelerating independent of whether its in a low or high gear the battery light flickers on for a split second accompanied by a jerk. i had it checked by an independent garage and was told that this was related to the alternator thus that was changed the problem continued and got worse after 4-5 weeks until 2 weeks ago when the engine management light came on and the power was reduced. 4 ignition coils and spark plugs were change. unfortunately this split second flickering of the battery continues. i have no problem starting the car does anyone have any bright ideas about this problem?????

  Hi there, I've just bought a used BMW from a used car dealer. It was sold with a 3 month warranty, and a 160 point 'check' which seems to cover very little, except major failures. I've found 2 faults: 1. The tracking is out on the front, so the drivers side tyre is bald on the inner shoulder, almost down to the steel, its needs replacing, as it could blow if left to wear down more.
