  • 37 MPH ? 23 Apr 2022 (Forum)
How do you come up with a max speed of 37 MPH for your self driving car.  Apparently it will be coming into law that you can read a book or watch TV in a self driving car.  Experiment to go live on a single lane of a motorway.  I hope the driver gets to finish the TV programme before something happens.

"we should not stand for this" Ok - sit down and calm down then! You don't have a provisional licence yet so driving lessons are off the menu for you for the foreseeable future. https://www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence You cannot currently apply for a new provisional licence because of coronavirus (COVID-19).

  • 55 Vivaro 1.9 - Brakes 26 Mar 2016 (Forum)
When driving at no particular time or distance the brakes start to gradually operate on their own. Having pulled over and waited 10 or 15 mins it clears itself. Or sometimes while driving, lifting the peddle slightly with my left foot sometimes clears it.

  • Volvo XC60 - Reversing Lights 23 Dec 2014 (Forum)
The reverse lights on my 2009 XC60 are rubbish, I have to drive down single country lanes with NO street lighting and at this time of the year its a nightmare meeting another car and having to reverse. I'm told that legally the max light is 11watts. Anyone got this problem or ideas as to make driving this Volvo easier.

  • Crash policeman drove at 120mph in torrential rain 21 Mar 2009 (Forum)
http://tinyurl.com/advba9 I'm not having a police bash here, but I don't how anyone, especially someone with advanced training, could think it's safe to drive at that speeds in those conditions. Apparently, he's claiming that he was driving at an appropriate speed for the conditions.
  • Not much left on the fronts 20 Aug 2008 (Forum)
New tyre time again for the Focus and I was wondering how long the fronts should last. Had three pairs so far - Michelin (OE) Dunlop and Avon. Each has lasted 25,000 miles. My driving style is pretty average, but I suppose 25,000 is not bad for a front wheel drive diesel.

  • Pleasant experience at Ford dealer 15 Dec 2007 (Forum)
Just back from a short test drive. Salesman asked questions to establish where I am in the buying process - still some test drives to go - then no hard sell, no pressure (apart from saying we need to decide quickly for a choice of colour).

  • HJ saved my life last night. 5 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Driving along a sodden M4 last night with lots of standing water I rembered HJ's advice not to use cruise control in such conditions, (because when the front wheels slow, if they aquaplane slightly, my rear wheel drive car tries to speed up).
