  It does not need to be motoring related. In fact, in this thread it should not be. No politics No Speeding, speed cameras, traffic calming No arguments or slanging matches Nothing which I think is not following the spirit of the thread. I will delete any of the above. If the thread becomes difficult to maintain I will simply remove it.

  We now have things like ABS / AWD / AWS / ESP / crumple zones / air bags / vented disc brakes / servo assisted brakes / asymmetric super grippy radial tyres / 3 point seat belts and an mot test that is about 100 times more exacting than it was 30 years ago, even the cyclists now wear helmets in case we hit them. So why are they lowering the speed limits on a some roads and planting speed cameras everywhere?

  Have you read the article in today's press regarding the driver who caused an accident, initally admitted fault, than denied it claiming the other driver was to blame? He was only caught out because some kid took some 'photo's with his mum's camera while he waited for her to give some details, said mum witnessed accident. What bothers me is that this scoundrel would have technically got away with a knock for knock if it had not been for the evidence.

Yesterday on the news a chap (in the UK) caught on a speed camera refused to say who was driving and has now taken his case the the European Court of 'Justice'. He says, and rightly so, that for centuries it has been up to the crown to prove the crime without reasonable doubt.

So do not be robbed by the police, the camera is set at 60mph which only applies to the single lane of traffic heading the opposite direction. As the law states a dual/2 lane carriage way nsl is 70mph, and a single lane carriage way nsl is 60mph.
