Installing Railings to driveway boundary 24 Apr 2007 (Forum)
The neighbour is a car trader whose has a second hand car business and every wekend he takes one or two back to his home to sell. I guess he is performing a private sale to avoid the obvious reasons. The drives are small (average width of a normal family size car), so when he drives his M5 and other larger cars he has to manoever (spelling) his cars onto my drive in order to drive his cars into his own drive. -

Talbot Avenger, 27k £895 - Let me drive him, never drove it himself Vauxhall Cavalier MK2, 56k £375 - Let me drive him, never drove it himself The reason I put the details is that there doesnt seem to be any pattern! I have never bought a car without driving it but honestly, I dont expect people to drive cars they buy off me anymore. -
Driving licence expired - legal to drive? 20 Jun 2022 (Forum)
I discovered to my horror yesterday that my driving licence had expired (some time back). I immediately applied for a new one online and got the notification that the renewal process was underway. I am trying to determine whether I am legally entitled to drive in the period until I receive the replacement, under Section 88 rules and it's not entirely clear, so I'm hoping someone can chip in and help me. -

MG4 - Driving school EV 11 Jun 2023 (Forum)
Although I imagine this might be common in other parts of the country, I have noticed a local driving school using an MG4. I was a bit surprised at first but then it made perfect sense. The majority of new cars are now automatic and many young drivers will never drive a manual and may even be looking at an EV as their first car. -
Doing the right thing for friend - Giving up driving 31 Jan 2020 (Forum)
Lady friend, 71 got a letter from DVLA saying they were making further enquiries about her ability to drive following her latest renewal application. Was panicking as going awaythis weekend driving. Have simply told her to see her GP with the forms and to do it and return to DVLA within the next 14 days, so that her licence isn't revoked and that she can drive under section 88 if GP says ok. -
Drive-on train to Lyon next summer? 1 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I have been given a two-day break at a luxury hotel in Lyon and wonder if anyone has experience of drive-on train services to the area? I live in the Midlands, am keen to take the car - a MINI Clubman - so that I can fill it with wine on the drive back but am reluctant to drive both ways because of the time. -
Progressive Driving 7 Dec 2008 (Forum)
As a follow on to the thread about defensive driving, we all know there is a fine line between progressive and aggresive driving. What do you do you do to practice progressive driving and where is the line drawn before it becomes aggresive? I always try and keep moving when entering a roundabout by observing the traffic joining at the entry before mine and altering my speed to avoid stopping, however if that entails bullying my way up the outside lane of the slip road and narrowly missing the traffic on the nearside, then it becomes aggresive. -
£73 Not to drive a Mondeo? 6 Dec 2006 (Forum)
The V70 is quieter but the Mondeo has more cabin space and a more engaging drive. My question:- Is it worth paying £73 a month more to drive a V70 over a Mondeo. -

Insurance for test-drive 21 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I'm contemplating selling the Badgermobile privately, probably on ebay. Not yet fully decided, but one matter that bothers me is insurance for test drives. I feel it quite unreasonable to expect anyone to buy a car without first driving it -- a ride as a passenger conveys little -- but I want the car fully insured for this. While a prospective purchaser would normally be able to drive my car on his own insurance (if he had any) it would be the minimum RTA cover only. -

Smoking whilst Driving 8 Dec 2003 (Forum)
The subject of smoking whilst driving came up in another topic and I though it was worth of one all of its own (awww bless!). How many people here smoke whilst driving and do you think it increases the danger? Has anyone been pulled over by plod for smoking?
