  • Nissan X-Trail T31 diesel 150bhp - Consistence of fuel brands. 13 Nov 2021 (Forum)
That tank full gave me 43.6MPG.  Filled up in Whitby North Yorkshire with Shell v power diesel. Could not get more than 36.4 MPG and now I am down to 34.3 MPG. Question is this a common happening between East and West coast Fuel? What procedure do you follow to complain?

  • French diesel fuel 25 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I am convinced that our Megane gives us about 4 to 5 mpg more when running on french diesel. In the UK I generally use BP or Texaco and average 50mpg....
  • Why waste money on Diesels? 21 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Can anyone explain why a vast ammount of money is spent on developing 'cleaner' diesels, and trying to get them to the same level in refinement as petrols, when this money could be spent on more eco-friendly (hatefull noun I know) such as dual fuel cars, hydrogen fuel cells? As far as I know, Diesels are still very polluting, PM10 particles or somethink, yet these seem to being promoted as the future.
  • 1996 Peugeot 106 XND - Leaking Fuel Pump 17 Feb 2014 (Forum)
The fuel pump on my P Reg 1.5 Diesel Peugeot 106 is leaking fuel- looks like from near where the pulley for the cam belt etc attaches. My car has an immobiliser key pad which  links to the pump. Is it possible to replace the fuel pump and re-program the new pump, or must the replacement fuel pump come with its code?

  • Diesel Motorcycles 6 Nov 2004 (Forum)
On the BBC South local TV news last night. Cranfield Inst of Technology have developed a diesel Motorcycle for sale to the US military. First order for 500 has been agreed. Not a great performer (85mph max) but main bonus is said to be commonality of fuel with other vehicles and simplicity and extra fuel economy.

  • Diesel power - a compromise? 2 Apr 2007 (Forum)
So given my miles, cheap cost of ownership etc would you got for a fast diesel for my mid commutes or get a real hot hatch and stump up the fuel bill.
  • Dacia Dual Fuel Prices 17 Aug 2021 (Forum)
I see Dacia have dropped the price of their dual fuel (petrol & LPG) cars to exactly the same as their petrol only equivalents. So presumably the customers are not prepared to pay a premium (as they did for diesel when they had diesel models across the range) No space for a spare wheel with the LPG tank though kinda spoils the whole proposition too.
  • Any - New European wide fuel labelling 5 Oct 2018 (Forum)
Instead of “Unleaded” and “Diesel”, pumps will be labelled with standardised letters and numbers, corresponding to the type of fuel, and the amount of biofuel it contains (E5/E10 for petrol; B7/B10 for diesel). A recipe for more misfuelling confusion!
  • 2007 VW Sharan TDI - Petrol in diesel..already driven..worried 15 Dec 2013 (Forum)
The views and experiences of the various experts and non- experts varies hugely. From what I can understand, if I have a diesel with an older type fuel pump then I should be ok. If I have a modern diesel with a common-rail fuel pump then I should prepare myself for a massive repair bill.   I am not sure which type of fuel pump my 2007 Sharan TDI has.
  • Peugeot 405 Diesel - fuel filter housing leak 24 Sep 2014 (Forum)
1995 Pug 405 SRDT my 405 has been very hard to start of late and i have found there to be a diesel leak coming from the bottom of the fuel filter housing.   It is a small white round piece at the bottom of the black plastic filter housing, on another site info I have read leads me to believe that is coming from a thermostat at the bottom of the housing.
  • VW Phaeton - Diesel and Biofuel 27 Jan 2014 (Forum)
Hi all First post, due to the mess biofuel seems to making of our diesel filters.  I only use BP Ultimate or similar, but have been unable to find if there is any biofuel involved after the blanket legislation by HMG. Having been used to treating boat fuel (due to the time it spends in the tank), I was wondering if there is any scope to treat car fuel (if biofuel is an issue) with the same biocide, killing any sludge forming bacteria.

  • Running diesels on Gas (Update) 14 Dec 2001 (Forum)
The prototype engine has been developed by Westport Innovations, a Canadian firm specialising in the R & D of natural gas engine fuel systems. Unlike other gas engines that use spark ignition, Westport's system uses the diesel cycles high compression. The fuel is added only after the piston has compressed the air. As a result, Westport claims that the diesel engines efficiency and torque are maintained.'
  • Corsa 1.5 diesel - fuel starvation 7 Aug 2005 (Forum)
After visit from auto-electrics guy, who ruled out electrical problem, we guessed it may be fuel starvation and as experienced on a previous car, fitted a push in temporary fuel cap as a "quick fix". Car has been fine ever since, which we assume means fuel tank breather is blocked causing vacuum.
