  Couple of questions for you to ponder.. Does a car pollen filter still work when my air-con is set to recycle? or does it work better when the recycle switch is set to off? Basically what I want is the best setting as I suffer badly from hayfever this time of year and want the best setting I can get.

  Are there any companies out there that make replacement more generic items to replace parts that manufacturers aren't making any more? The reason I ask is that nissan don't seem to be making the air con pressure switches for my old skyline r32 and I wondered if I could get a more generic one from somewhere as they all do much the same job..... teabelly

  I have just bought a 98 Mondeo which has air-con. Assuming it has not needed repairs or replacement from new how much longer can I expect it to go before needing re-gassing or replacement? Ive heard about 5 years is the best you can hope for, obviously I will run it often as recommended in the manual to try and keep it 'healthy'

  the air con is not good enough- press the air con button and the compressor engages and the fans start up, the temp only goes down to around 10-13 Celsius. Or around 9ish with the recirc button on. So i thought there either a leak or low on gas- pooped of to kwik-fit for regass, they let the machine do the work and according to their own gauges the temp has only dropped from 13c to around 11c- i.e. pretty much the same as before the regass- to be fair they did not charge me for their work.

  I have only had the car for 4 months and it was running perfectly, no waring beforehand and it was all over within minutes. I am in the process of having another engine put in but I have been reading about air-con noises and consequential engine problems. When i switch off my air-con it gurgles for a while? Is that anything I should be worried about? Could it have led to this problem? Please help as I am facing a very large bill and don't want another large bill

  Hi Everyone, I have a Mondeo Mk3, 2.0 TDCI and have just had to replace my drive belt becuase when the air con clutch cuts in the belt doesn't go round properly and snapped. It's almost like when the clutch is engage it's "locked up" on the pulley. I have disconnected the air con pump electric connector for now so it wont cut it at all.

  He did mention the coolant level goes down a bit as well. He does say this does not happen if he leaves the air con on when driving. is that a common occurance/problem? I have heard that if the air con is used during summer/hot weather it is normal to see a puddle of water under the car due to condenstation.

  Anyone have access to a circuit diagram that shows where all the sensors are located ? Any information would be appreciated. It's been a splendid car, and still is, save the air con problems - which must be fixable, surely ? Thanks, Old Nick

  Hi 2002 Ford Modeo 2.0 TDCi. Air con has been working with no problems.All of a sudden A/C light is going out and A/C is not working when the fan speed is switched beyond the first position.On the first fan speed every thing working fine with cooled air trickling out of the vents.When the car is driven at speed the ram air effect is pushing cool air through the vents so can only assume the A/C is actually working OK.

  I have a 2008 Ford Galaxy ghia with the rear air con and duel climate control. Since having a new condenser and regas the temperature varies from one vent to the next.    One vent goes as low as 8.5c whereas another will be blowing 16c.

    My Toyota has air con, when you switch it on you can hear the revs on the engine rise. I am not sure of increased fuel economy as I only owned it for a short whille My Alfa has climate control, when switched on there is no rise in revs, it does not seem to effect the fuel economy, which is not good anyway.

  My air con has failed due to stone damage leading to a repair bill of just shy of £800. Since the failure is due to stone damage surely this a design fault due to insufficient shielding.  Is BMW liable due to design failure for any of the repair bill?

  Hello All Does anybody know of a way to get to the air con drivebelt tensioner pully lock bolt (8mm hex in the centre of the pully)On a 1998 mondeo TD? as there is hardly any clearance between the pully and the body work. Does any one know of a special tool for the job?

  Ladies and Gentlemen, I have had a 1999 Vhall Astra 1.8 CDX for about ten months and i am getting a musty smell from my Air Con. If I switch between the two I get the smell for a bit but it clears in five or ten minutes. I have thought it may be the pollen filter. Would be grateful if anyone could provide advice. Paul

  Advice please on the best way to use the air-con system on modern cars. Honest John suggest use at all times? My friends are not convinced, claiming high fuel bills and loss of power. Any setting of the heating system to the screen on modern cars automatically turns the A/C on, so is the manufacturer and honest John correct or should A/C be used more sparingly (cold/weekly/or unless you need it)?

  just had air con expert out, regassed car all good, no leaks, pump working as it should, but only blowing warm/cold air not at the temp as it should be, he mentioned might need a new blend door? but he was'nt sure, ford said might be pollen filter but just had major service with ford and odour filter was part of the service, any more ideas please......

  As the weather in the UK generally doesn't require the air con, I hadn't noticed that the air con did not blow cold. When testing the air con, I noticed it blew warm, so took it for a refill and that didn't sold the issue. Driving home, the air con started working and worked for 3 days after (admittedly the car hadn't been driven after being parked the night it started working).
