Thinking of buying a 2CV 26 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I have seen a 2CV advertised, 1985 VGC 25,000miles has been garaged since 1993 (owner abroad) price: 750 I am thinking to offer about 500 or less I have done a little research and found that pre 1986 are not supposed to run on unleaded, this is a slight cause for concern, there are reports of some cars running ok on unleaded. The sunroof is also a concern (will it leak?) Another thing is that I don't have a garage, so it will be on the street, I think a car like that should be kept in a garage. -
fiesta 1.1 starting and running problems 29 May 2004 (Forum)
Hello everyone, After my last inquiry about the heavy steering it turned out to be a universal ball join, so it's all fixed. However, nothing is ever that... -
Vauxhall Cavalier - Fault Code... 27 Feb 2004 (Forum)
According to my 'script', this means: "Camshaft sensor - Incorrect Signal" Have not a clue what this means. The light only comes on at start up, and if you let the engine run for a minute (literally) and then turn off and turn back on again, the engine managment light does not come back on.... Car appears fine - doing 40mpg, running smoothly, oil clean.... Two thoughts - either the sensor is faulty (if so, how accesible is it....). -
Difficulty Cold Starting Audi A6 2.5 TDI 7 Sep 2003 (Forum)
The engine does not start particularly easily when cold (even in summer) and often requires several goes on the starter motor until it catches on enough cylinders for the engine to run. Once running, the engine performance and fuel consumption is normal. If I try to restart the car 3 or 4 hours after it was last used, it starts perfectly. Any informed ideas would be gratefully received. -
MPG just halved-any ideas? 24 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Coming back off my holls yesterday my trip computer was showing around 16/20 mpg instead of 29/35mpg ,i checked the range setting on a full tank and that was showing about 200 less miles than normal. After running the car empty the trip computer was shown to be correct,I took the air filter out and this seemed to rectify the fault for about 20 mins then it returned The engine seems to running ok its a carlton 3000 gsi I would be interested to see what you all think Cheers -
Primera Oxygen Sensor 14 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Of course until they are able to run the engine they won't know whether replacing the sensor has got the emissions back on line. -
gremlins in trooper enigine! 11 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Also if the hand fuel pump in the engine bay is tried before cranking it is soft for the first two or three pumps before it becomes stiff, suggesting possibly that the fuel is running back? It is fine to start any other time, just has bother when left overnight, or for a long period. The vehicle is used everyday, and runs perfectly. Any help appreciated, thanks. -
Cold Engine 4 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Also when its cold outside the heater doesn't blow very warm except in heavy traffic, hence I suspect the guage is right. I have checked several other cars since and they all seem to run about 90 degrees. Whats going on? Tim -
Fiat Punto Unreliable starting 23 Dec 2002 (Forum)
50% of the time the car starts first time 25% of the time it will start on the second attempt but 25% of the time it requires muliple attempts (5 or 6) to get the engine running. Once the engines fires it runs perfectly The problem can occur whether the engine is hot or cold and appears to be independent of weather conditions or dampness. I don't touch the accelerator pedal before the engine fires and the car has recently had a new battery and it passed its MOT a few months ago when the spark plugs were replaced -
Mother is trying to make her car go bang 5 Sep 2002 (Forum)
Mother has had her Rover 111 (ok Metro) for about 6000 miles and refuses to service it or even change the oil because it is 'running fine.' Well it isn't. She doesn't know when it was last serviced, could have been 10000 miles before she bought it and its definately been a short run car because its only done 40000 in 5 years! -

Sludge under oil cap 22 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Where could the moisture be getting into the oil. I do a daily 70 mile return run - motorway driving so it should be hot enough to get rid of condensation. Should I forget about it or should Ihave the head gasket changed? Thanks Peter -

Is there any way my 5k would get me a similar post restoration car as a weekend toy? Could I afford to run it? I assume parts have to be engineered on a one off basis. Discuss. -
Daewoo Nexia 10 Oct 2001 (Forum)
She would like to change it for a Toyota Yaris now that the free servicing Daewoo Deal is about to run out. My opinion is that at 12.5K miles, it's barely done a tenth of its potential mileage, and would be worth buttons against a Yaris, it being flavour of the month and a current model. Being a "better the devil you know" sort of chap, I've recommended that she keep it, form a relationship with a friendly local garage and run it for another 3-4 years. -

Espace vs Kangoo 12 Feb 2001 (Forum)
It has air con, and is generally comfortable and goes OK. But I am wondering whether its reliability will begin to suffer on University runs for the children and other longer trips. I do about 10k miles per year, mostly local. I have viewed the Kangoo with interest, and wonder whether to part exchange the Espace for a new Kangoo. Or am I better off paying for the odd bills, and running the Espace for several more years. -
