Changing my car, but which one? 23 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I currently have a Mazda RX-8, which I bought in May last year. Love it, fantastic car! The problem is, 3 weeks ago I've gone from working 12miles from my home to about 75! I'm getting expensed, which just about covers the cost of the fuel/oil but I don't think the RX-8 is the kind of car you put 500 miles/week on and run into the ground. -
Help - insurance woes 23 Feb 2004 (Forum)
It now looks like the car has been stored in a muddy field for the past six months, the inside is soaking wet so it may have been kept outside with the roof open (the car is a cabrio and the roof stopped working after the accident - this was found after the garage thought they had fixed everything), the carpets are thick with mud, the leather seats are stained and covered in white stains where the water has dried. -
Vauxhall Corsa - Vauxhall corsa ECU Problems 30 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Hi, I have had a vauxhall corsa out on finance now for about 4 months. Since having the car, I have had to get a new tyre, the break pads replaced and now the ECU has gone on the car . The garage who sourced the car from the finance company provided 3 months cover on the car and it is slightly out of this warranty. -

Advice/recommendations for a second car. 18 Jul 2021 (Forum)
General use would be commuting to work and day to day driving, I only really cover between 6-8k miles a year so a petrol will be most suitable. Does anyone have any recommendations to a similar alternative or be able to atleast give me some ideas to look at? Any advice is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance. -
Insurance Cancellation - Extortionate Fee 29 May 2019 (Forum)
I recently scrapped my car because of corrosion. There are still three weeks of insurance cover left on the policy and my insurance company wants £75 to cancel the policy, the insurance was paid in full when I took out the policy, so I think this cancellation fee is a bit extortionate. -
Toyota Auris - Car Vibrating 20 Apr 2018 (Forum)
Hi all,am after a bit of advise.I got hit in the rear end by a 3rd party, there was some damage to my rear bumper and I noticed some vibrations/shakes in both my steering wheel and the car in general. The 3rd party’s insurance arranged for a repair to be done through their recommend garage.A couple of days ago I got a call from the repair garage advising me the insurance aren’t going to cover the repairs because the garage have advised them that in other for them to troubleshoot the problem of the vibrations the first of all need to do a wheel balancing and possibly a wheel alignment,if that doesn’t work they would need to do some further checks. The insurance company had refused to authorise the wheel alignment or the balancing as they feel it’s not accident related and it’s just wear and tear. -
Audi A3 + S3 (2008 - ) - Strange noise from Audi A3 Sportback 7 Feb 2017 (Forum)
At the start of the this month i took delivery of a new a3 sportback. Having covered a 1000 miles since, today whilst driving along I heard a loud metallic sound from the car (It almost sounded like something was hanging down from the car and scraping along the floor). Having checked nothing is, the car went to the local audi dealer who could find no fault. -
Automatic or Not... To Be ? 29 Jun 2014 (Forum)
Why do car manufacturers not fit automatic gear boxes in new cars as standard and manuals as extra ? Surely this would negate the extra cost. Would not most drivers prefer an automatic ? Is it not a chore having to change up and down the box ? -
BMW 3 Series E90 - Insurance for Republic of Ireland 22 May 2013 (Forum)
What is the best insurer for multiple extended breaks to ireland as my father is intending to spend 4months over in ireland. The revenue in ireland allow you a temporary exception to have the UK car in ireland over 12mths but given the insurance may only cover you for 30day/ 90days at any one time or for just one 90day trip this does not help. Re-registering the car isnt an option as its pre 2008 and has a 3 litre engine making it 1500 euro in road tax per year and another 3k in VRT. -
Any - SWIMBO Car 27 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I know that she is going to need some refresher lessons after such a big gap without driving so I'm trying to arrrange this in a SMART or something similiar. However I'm up for some advice in terms of alternatives for either of these two cars, and on people's thoughts about leasing, She wants to ensure that any repair bills are covered by a warranty, and we have around £3k to put down as a deposit. Any advice gladly received. -

As my new car is fitted with LED DRL's, this will cover me for lights during the day if visibility is good. So if I am not going to use my dipped beams do I still need to fit headlight deflectors, or can I just have them in the car to be fitted if I do need to use my dipped beams? -

CO-OP young driver insurance 21 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I took this out 3 months ago to enable my son to get second driver insurance cover on my car at a reasonable price. We had the box fitted which tracks driving performance and have been monitoring 'our' driving style on line ever since. The rating over the weeks was 'good' and lo and behold a safe driver refund of £25 appeared in my bank account last week. -
any - running out of fuel in a tdci vcdi cdti car 6 May 2011 (Forum)
Just having a discussion with some friends and got a service manager from a national chain involved, and in line with my thinking quote "damage to fuel pumps caused by mis-fuelling AND running the pump dry IS NOT covered under warranty." unquote........................ I think that Ford put it in the handbook on new cars, but does anyone else have experience of this. Had an aquaintance attempt to get home on an empty tank and when fuelled put in 68litres diesel into a 65 litre tank. was he lucky or what! -
MINI MINI Cooper and S R56 (2007 - ) - 06 1.6 Another one loosing coolant 3 May 2010 (Forum)
All has been fine but now the level has dropped again . No Mayo in the oil but coolant does look discolored. Is this looking like a head gasket failure? car has only covered 25 k miles, if it is im gutted that a modern car with such low milage and full service history should fail like this. Car is now out of warenty. Is there a known problem with theses gaskets? -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 99 1.8 What could be causing this noise ? 11 Jun 2009 (Forum)
I own a 1999 Ford Focus (petrol engine) which has covered 80k miles. I feel that I need advice on how to tell if the noise I think I can hear coming from somewhere from the car is due to a coolant pump, alternator or power steering pump problem e.g. worn bearings. -
Honda Civic IMA hybrid (2003 - 2005) - 03 1.4 What car is this based upon? 5 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I would like to get a Haynes manual for simple things like i have a blown bulb behind the speedo which i would like to replace, but cannot work out how to remove. Haynes Uk were unable to help, and Honda said it would not help as I should take my car to a main dealer for everything. I know none of the electric wizzy stuff will not be covered, but surely the running gear, interior etc must be from another civic. Thank in advance for any help.
