  I'm leaving my 2015 Volkswagen Jetta and Volkswagen Golf on my driveway for nine weeks in winter. Should I disconnect the batteries?

  I tried then tried to re-charge the battery but it wouldn't hold a charge so replaced with a new one.   With the new battery, the dash lights are come on, the red immobiliser padlock flashes one every 2 seconds.

  In the HJ Archive way back in 2001 (Monday 22nd October at 1409 hrs to be precise) there's a thread about fitting a new battery. http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=2204#m18757 I have the dubious honour of posting in it. Mention is made of the Draper 'Memory Saver' that you plug in to the cig. lighter socket to keep the settings during the battery swap.

  Hi i replaced my alternator because it wasn't charging my battery and i broke down. Well new one fitted charging now at 13.8v and does go up when i rev, the battery is ok tested at 12.5v with engine off and holds it is the calcium type aswell. problem is my battery light still comes on, i took advice and unplugged battery for couple of minutes and reconnected, had nothing turned on for 15 minutes then started car again, the light came on again. confused it takes around 30 seconds for the light to come on every time i am not sure of the problem.

  I have a 58 plate mondeo titanium 2 litre petrol. Had car about 6 months and battery died on me. Changed battery, all good. About 3 months later car died again and breakdown couldn't start it battery was so dead. Since then it has failed on me half a dozen times. The last time I did a 100 mile run on a thu, drove it short distance to work and back on fri, by 10am sat morning it was dead.

  I've removed the dash cluster unit and cleaned it, and given it a light coating of ACF-50 spray, but the problems remain.  I've got a DTC 9317 code, (high battery voltage). The dash LCD is showing between 14v and 18v.  I've read on various forums various solutions, such as changing the speed sensor, alternator and battery. Does anyone have any idea which is the best thing to replace first, or have any better ideas??

  (i've also popped in to work and run up the truck engine for half an hour, not a hope that it would start otherwise) As an aside i had to change the battery a few weeks ago, now i always buy good quality things if possible and the battery was no exception, but the new one i bought 14 or so months previously just died without warning. That was a top German battery and i've had that make for years without the slightest problem, so was very surprised when it suddenly packed up.

  After seeing that someone had calculated the time it takes for the battery to drain on the Punto with the parasitic current draw can someone work this one out for me please: If you have a 24v electrical system powered by two 12v batteries that are 120ah each, how long will it take a 2.6amp current draw to flatten the batteries.
