Is it common for the tailgate lock on the Volkswagen Touran to malfunction?
I am having trouble with the tailgate on my Volkswagen Touran. Once closed it unlocks and it won't completely lock home again, and you can hear the lock clicking and struggling to fully close the gate. Once it flattened the battery overnight and my local garage had to be called to charge the battery which had become dead flat. I did not want to jump start it in case of further damage to battery or car electrics. Is this a common fault on Volkswagens?

Moisture in the electrics in the rear door. Rear hatch locks are very vulnerable to moisture ingress
