  • Should I buy what I want? 11 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Are they all Rear Wheel Drive? Anyone owned one? I'd prefer this to a Mondeo, strangely, because I think they're dog ugly. Mazda Xedos 6. I love Mazdas big and small. Gonna be thirsty, and older than the above. Am I going to end up hating it? Any help or other suggestions (except for diesels or French cars) greatfully received.
  • Cam belts 28 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Does this one need a cambelt and if so should it be changed? I don't have a manual and the Mazda agents didn't know what I was talking about on the phone. Advice please and thanks in advance.

  • extreme bangernomics 8 Jun 2020 (Forum)
Two blokes I know do nothing to their cars, zilch, nada, a Mazda Mx5 20 years old and a Jag S type pretty old. Jag cost about £800 and has merrily gone on for two years or so. Jag guy just runs them til they break and buys another, how they don't just stop running I don't know.
  • Advice - large used family car for around 7k 29 May 2018 (Forum)
Hi, I'm looking to replace a Mazda 6 with a large used family car.  I think I've narrowed it down to a Skoda Octavia estate or a Citreon Grand Picasso.  Needs to be economical and have a have a big boot.  Mileage will be low (less then 10k a year).
  • Which saloon? 21 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I am looking at three saloon cars, 2007 reg . either 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 petrol. Mazda 3 Renault Megane sports saloon or Toyota Corolla (1.4 only as HJ has noted 1.6 can use one litre of oil per 600 miles). Would appreciate any advice regarding which one to go for. Many thanks. Brian
  • Best car for £10K 29 Oct 2006 (Forum)
We need to buy a car (at least 1.5 litre), either a Vauxhall, Mazda or Suzuki (Fiat maybe) for roundabouts 10K. We will be doing less than 8,000 miles/yr in it, mainly semi-rural driving. We have a dog so a sort of long-ish hatchback would be better. What car would you recommend?
  • Bah hummer 20 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Seeing as it is Christmas how about some motoring related carols? A dismal few I have thought of so far: Away in a Mazda Skyline Night Hark the Triumph Herald Angel Imaginary prizes for anyone that can think of a whole verse :-) Oooh, I think I hear carol singers. Now where did I put my trebuchet.... teabelly
  • Motability - worth thinking about? 17 Apr 2004 (Forum)
I haven't looked into it a great length but it seems that for nil or small deposit I can run a car for my dla payments for three years and 45000 miles. Cars available include a new Zafira, an Almera, Megane and tantilisingly a Mazda MX5! All for no advance. Must be a catch!
  • very short drives: how bad are they ? 1 Dec 2003 (Forum)
We have to frequently drive 2 miles to the nearest park to walk our dog, it varies but on average 5 times a week. Is this likely to cause damage to the 2 Litre petrol engine (it's a new Mazda) and how badly ? I read that it might seeing as a car needs over 3 miles to complete a full cycle.

  • Any - sports convertible 1 Feb 2013 (Forum)
I have a Mazda MX5 which has served me well for over 2 years. I am looking to upgrade and wondered what were the options if I went for another convertible costing less than £8,000? Would a performance car such as a Jaguar or Porsche Boxter prove to be troublesom ore expensive?
  • Best Place to Sell a Car? 1 Feb 2012 (Forum)
I am currently selling my Mazda RX8, and wondering where people have had the best feedback from when selling their cars? I have gone for the obvious Autotrader/Exchange&Mart, but I am being told Piston Heads is a decent place to put my type of car too, anyone had any recent experience?
  • Skoda Fabia - VAG 1.4MPI engine 16 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Toying with replacing our second car (2007 Mazda 2), and have seen on the Skoda site that they are offering the Fabia SE with the 1.4 MPI engine (85bhp). I thought that VAG had replaced the 1.4 engine with their Tsi turbo-charged engines. Has anyone got any feedback on the 1.4 MPI as regards problems, reliability, etc.
  • Ford - The demise of the Ford Empire 19 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Ford has now reduced it's shareholding in Mazda to just 13% - although it still remains the biggest single shareholder. IMO this gives them the opportunity to raise lots of dosh (obviously) but also it enables them to keep strong links with a well known Japanese company which will continue to help them develop more and more reliable products at less cost.
  • Wrong fuel! 31 Jul 2004 (Forum)
My beloved just put some diesel in her Mazda, and while waiting for the tow truck, we got to wondering if topping up the tank with petrol (which would dilute it more than 2:1) would be survivable. One garage man says it would, and the other says definitely not!
  • Chain cam belts & cats 7 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Hi techies - been looking at the diesel powered Mazda MPV. I understand this has a cam chain rather than a belt. Other than this being, hopefully, more robust are there any major negative cost implications with such a set up (e.g cost of replacement etc.)?
  • Xedos 6 18 May 2003 (Forum)
A neighbour a few doors away has his Mazda Xedos 6 up for sale. On an R plate for £4,250, unknown mileage but looks in good condition. The issue is that on the notice in the window, along with phone no. etc is that it's a 2.5 auto V6. Looking at the Car-by-car on the left, there's no reference to a 2.5, only a 2.0l or 1.6.
