Diesel cost 12 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Probably a daft question but years ago when I bought my first diesel the fuel was cheaper than petrol and you got better mpg to boot. Whilst fuel consumption is still better of course why is diesel now so much more expensive than petrol? -

The Budget 18 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Really gets me how the Gov say that freezing fuel duty until September is costing them £235 mio or so. No, it is NOT costing anything, the extra fuel duty is money the exchequer has never had, all they are doing is delaying the date that they will further penalise the motorist ... ... and of course trying to buy votes. -

Ford Kuga - No turbo boost at high RPM 8 Jul 2019 (Forum)
The car will accelerate very slowly like an 1.0 litre petrol engine. In the morning when the problem occurred I filled with fuel and I remember the fuel indicator on dashboard didn't updated with the new level straight away. It took around one hour to slowly increase the fuel level indicator. Could there be some problems in fuel tank that affects this and also the fuel pump? -
Ford Focus Ghia 1.8 TDCi Mk1 2003 - Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi Glow Plug Light Flashing 27 Feb 2016 (Forum)
I checked the injectors by turning the engine over and seeing whether fuel dribbles out of them, and they seem fine, leading me to believe the Fuel Pump is the cause of the issue. I'll be taking it to a diesel specialist today to get an idea of price. So, what do you think of my diagnosis, and has anyone got any idea how much it will be to have the fuel pump replaced? -
Diesel fuel filters, changed too often? 7 Jan 2016 (Forum)
With due apologies for touching on this topic before,I have cut another fuel filter open for examination. I have suspected for a long time that diesel fuel filters have an easy life using normal pump fuel. Drained and `opened` the canister type fom one car at the service yesterday, it was clean inside and not one drop of water. -
Volvo & Kawasaki ZZR 1100 - Bio-Ethanol inclusion 14 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Dartmoor) It is not so simpilistic as 'emulsification' -the inclusion of BE into petrol & used in engines built before 2006 degrades the tanks, fuel lines & fuel seals, pumps, carburettors, early fuel pumps & injector rails. I have read Honest Johns articles since they were produced & I cannot ever remember in the last decade one informative article on the above subject matter! -
Peugeot 407 SW 2.0HDi Auto (4 speed) 2005 - 136bhp - Onboard computer reading 45mpg real MPG 27mpg 9 Oct 2014 (Forum)
I've taken it to an independent garage and they couldn't find anything wrong. No fuel leaks, no diagnostic errors. It was fully serviced after the second tank of fuel, but the fuel economy has not really improved as the third tank where I got only 30mpg included a long trip, including motorway from Shrewsbury to Banbury. -
Peugeot 806 - Peugeot 806 Running Problems 7 Jul 2013 (Forum)
I have a Peugeot 806 2.0HDI year 2001, came up with a fault code P0230, fuel pump circuit. The fuel pump when you switched the ignition on sounded very rough, it wouldn't rev over 3000rpm, the engine ran on when you switched it off for a few seconds and the engine light was on the dash. -
Peugeot 307 - peugeot 307 2l hdi wont start 4 Oct 2010 (Forum)
my customer has brought in his 307 hdi he says he pulled up at home and stopped engine then he came out 15min later and it wouldnt start he flatend the battery trying and put car into economy mode so no windows central locking or nothing will now work ive tried toget the engine started but failed ive checked all the obvios stuff levels fuses etc so i plugged it in to my snap on computer and varios fault codes come up 1 was low pressure pump malfunction which was p1180 so iremoved the sender unit only to find that it does not have an in tank pump? another fault code was p1210 which is fuel injector pressure high also p1176 which is a cam calibration fault? also p0191 which is fuel rail pressure sensor fault so i replaced this still with no luck so i then removed the fuel filter and it had loads of paper mush in the bottom and also removed the fuel pressure regulator which seemed fine ive tryed testing the fuel rail sensor but im only getting 5v on 1 of the outside pins ? -
Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - '98 - Diesel Primer Advise please 30 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Giving him the benefit of the doubt when he said it was a 2nd hand primer I went about locally to purchase a new primer but all they had in stock was a separate fuel filter & hand primer. These he replaced without charge. But now I noticed that the box that was in line with the fuel line with an electrical connection has been removed. I'm only presuming that it is a fuel rail pressure sensor. -

SAE paper 932809 " Unless there is further interest/argument with the papers cited by Shell, I am satisfied that there is merit in only using fuels with a claim to quality.
