Smart Motorways? 25 Oct 2019 (Forum)
So much for the efficiency of our smart motorway network camera coverage and rapid response. Yesterday, Saturday, M6 south just below jct 13 4 lane running no warnings, car stopped presumably broken down on live left lane. Today, Sunday, M1 south around jct 29 4 lane running, no warnings, car stopped presumably broken down on live left lane. Dunno about you lot but i'm unsure about these so called smart motorways and thgink the dangers outweigh the benefits, very happy with the 4 lane section M1 between Nottm and Mansfield and some of the newer M25 sections, just as they should be 4 permanent running lanes and a good wide hard shoulder for emergencies..fortunately both days very few lorries on the road, good visibility dry conditions, that brings to 7 now the memorable stopped unwarned of vehicles i've come across on fast moving smart motorways, all the rest have been in the west mids section at busy times in dangerous stretches. -
N/A - Hit and Run 14 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Hello, On the 31st of March 2019 I was involved in a hit and run. I have video evidence of them hitting my vehicle, and multiple witnesses who were in the area at the time. I have phone numbers for these people, and the video even captures them stopping to see if I'm okay. minutes after the collision I was straight on the phone to the police and following that I reported the event to my insurance. -
Vauxhall Astra F (1991 - 1998) - 96 1.6 Radiator fan on all the time 24 Aug 2017 (Forum)
Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem, as as soon as it was all connected back up the fan resumed running all the time. My dad seems to think the new part I have bought might be defective, as why would the fan stop running when it is totally disconnected and yet run when connected to the new switch? -
Ford Focus 1.6 2007. - Occasional whiff of petrol outside car 27 Oct 2016 (Forum)
I keep an empty petrol can in the boot for emergency topups, and thinking that maybe this was the source of the niff I removed it and put it in the shed. Sure enough, the smell went away. However...today I had the car running on idle whilst I plugged in and used my 12v car vac, and a couple of times in the space of about 20 minutes I caught a whiff of unburnt fuel, generally in the boot area. This has never happened before whilst I've been checking lights, hoovering or whatever with the car stationary and engine running. -

mini one clubman'59 plate - mini one clubman '59 will not start at all 3 Sep 2015 (Forum)
I left my '59 plate mini one clubman for 2 weeks this summer. It was due a service and wasn't running entirely smoothly before I left - last year mini had to replace the ?fuel injection as it was malfunctioning - it was running smoothly again for the whole year, but in the week or so before I went away it had started to have a problem with smooth running in 2nd gear (a bit like before). -

Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi - Focus 1.8 TDCI - Intermitant Turbo Failure 17 Aug 2014 (Forum)
If I keep the revs down, it runs perfectly. It's otherwise running smoothly, no unusual noises or leaks; no warning lights. I'm not a mechanic (of any sort!) -
Volkswagen Golf IV - mk4 golf tdi arl won't start 12 Feb 2014 (Forum)
ive removed the rocker cover, the camshaft looks in good condition, i was hoping to be able to examine the output from the cam mounted tandem pump but this doesn't seem possible, is there a way to test the tandem pump? i doubt all 4 injectors have gone together and if one had i would expect a fault code and some running issues but the car was running fine, is there anyway to test the lift pump aswell apart from listening for it priming? any help would be appreciated chris -
Ford Grand C-MAX - 1.6TDCi Loss of power, no fault codes. 12 Jun 2013 (Forum)
There were no fault codes logged and they didn't see any obvious issues with the turbo. The car has done over 17,000 miles, and gets plenty of long runs so the DPF shouldn't be getting clogged. I also let the turbo cool down properly after long trips. The car's not used a drop of oil, and I've only ever fueled it with premium diesel too. It has been running a little rougher and noisier than normal over the last few months, but nothing severe enough to say it's running badly. -
Ford Focus Estate 1.8 Petrol - Coolant temperature 7 Jun 2013 (Forum)
I drove the wife's car today for the first time in many months and noticed a characteristic smell upon stopping that suggesting it was running hot. There are no other indications so far of a problem but it is overdue for a service. According to the ECU the coolant temperature was 106C. If these engines run hot as I get the impression that they were designed to do then I guess this isn't a problem. -
Ford fiesta W reg - Fiesta won't restart after running. 2 Apr 2013 (Forum)
Hi, I am hoping someone can shed a light on possible solutions to this: W reg ford fiesta 1.3. Runs perfectly when started cold, no odd engine sounds, nothing to worry about. If I stop the engine then 50% of the time it won't restart. The engine fires and turns over a few times and then slowly dies over 2-8 seconds. -

mgf - MGF Not Running 7 Jul 2012 (Forum)
Here's a solution to a problem I had but couldn't get a solution on a forum - it may be there I just haven't found it :-) My MGF 97 VVC cut out and wouldn't restart - no real warning. When turned over it would run for a few seconds then stall and then not restart. First port of call was coil pack, then leads, plugs, fuel filter, manifold, new injectors and loom. After all these (not at the same time) I still had the same problem, Then a friend suggested I check the cat as it may be blocked, I thought anything was worth a go at this point, so I disconnected the downpipe at the manifold and presto the car started. -
Skoda Octavia 1.6 Elegance Estate - Fault Code 16706 5 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Also occasionally stalling at traffic lights. Usually re-starts, but I get EPC light and car then runs lumpy. Once cold again and/or reset codes, car starts and runs fine. Recently, car stalled and wouldn't re-start and towed to garage who replaced starter motor, but codes still appearing and car still running lumpy after 'warm' restart as above. -
Peugeot Expert Tepee - Cooling System on 2.0HDI losing fluid 31 Aug 2011 (Forum)
Hi to all, I'm at my wits end - I've got a 2002 Peugeot Expert van, and it's not playing ball. It drives sweet as a nut, and in my line of work, it's regularly left running for 8 -10 hours at a time, which it's fine with, but when used on a motorway run it's blowing it's coolant out of the expansion bottle over the course of the journey. There's no sign of the van running hot, it's had it's thermostat replaced as a precaution, it's had the bottle cap replaced twice (second one stopped holding a vaccum within a day). -
vauxhall vectra c - hesitation and rough running 8 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Recently though even when stationary and at idle the revs will drop and rise and the engine will run rough for a few seconds then goes bck to normal, this has happened on three of four occasions with no other symptoms occuring. Last night the above happened again only maybe more severe and through on a light on the bashboard. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6tdci front wheel arch rust 'fix' 18 Apr 2011 (Forum)
The underseal in this area is inadequate and Ford has introduced a fix which involves a small strip of plastic that runs the length of the under sill and front wheel arch." I have seen later focus IIs with a plastic strip running along the sill and I enquired at my local ford parts centre if these or similar were available for my car.
