  • Police trip up - Monty keeps driving (& putting) 11 Sep 2007 (Forum)
The case marks the second time that Mr Montgomerie has eluded a speeding charge in three years. In September 2004 he was accused of driving at 96mph on the A3, near his Surrey home. The case collapsed after one of the arresting police officers failed to turn up at court for the case. Mr Montgomerie's solicitor, Nick Freeman, was known for his success in using legal technicalities to get celebrity clients, including Sir Alex Ferguson and David Beckham, acquitted for driving offences.
  • Parking outside my house 22 Feb 2006 (Forum)
I decided to leave the Xantia on the road for a few days and it has now caused the neighbour who lives opposite to complain that he can't reverse out onto the road because of the Xantia's postion. Now I don't park opposite his drive but I do park on my side of the road, either side of his drive. If I leave it one side of his drive, he can't reverse out one way (in his opinion), if I leave the other side, he can't reverse out the other way.
  • Help! I'm turning into my Dad!!! 16 Mar 2003 (Forum)
I come home from work persecution-complex free as I *know* that I've not triggered any speed cameras. And I can drive everywhere knowing that if our local constabulary do pull me, then it's for a damned good reason. Actually, this getting older and driving sensibly malarkey is quite good, isn't it? I'm actually quite happy to turn into my Dad.
  • Local plod gets tough! 26 Nov 2001 (Forum)
This much is true! But, for reckless driving, drunken driving or driving 60km/h over the limit, you'll be hauled in front of a magistrate who can slap you with a fine of up to R24,000 and/or a spell in jail (NAG).
  • VARS Drive Off Notice 4 May 2024 (Forum)
We've received a VARS drive off notice from a petrol station in Bristol we've never been to. We live in Devon and were in Exeter for a hospital appointment on 11th April, the date in question. So it definitely wasn't us. The CCTV photo is useless - its the same model and colour, but you can't read the number plate at all.
  • Ford Mustang - Hands free driving 16 Apr 2023 (Forum)
Ford have announced today that they’ve been given permission to offer hands free motorway driving in their Mustang. Instead of the current situation whereby the car with a self steer function gets you to put your hands back on the wheel after a few seconds, now it’ll use existing driver awareness cameras to monitor the driver and permit hands off on motorways.
  • Electric seats - worth extra cost? 26 Jun 2022 (Forum)
Typically electric seats are offered in higher trims which costs extra £££. I am wondering whether they are worth paying for - especially when no else drives my car?  I can see the advantage for them when multiple people driving it but in my case once I manually set seat position I don't need to change it again unless someone drives e.g. during servicing, repair etc.
  • Ford Fusion - Front Wheel Bearings 10 Sep 2021 (Forum)
And is it okay to drive the car....before getting it repaired?
  • Vauxhall 3 day test drive offer 26 Oct 2020 (Forum)
Has anybody taken up the offer of the 3 day test drive Vauxhall are offering at the minute? Obviously there is no such thing as a free lunch and I know they ask you to fill out a questionnaire on the car when you are finished which will obviously then be used in a sales pitch to you at the end.
  • 4 week driving ban 22 Jul 2019 (Forum)
Turned 50 last week and celebrated by spending 4 hours in A & E on Sunday, having had an episode of "smeared" vision. Diagnosis is Transient Ischaematic Attack (mini-stroke) Hospital tell me a) no driving for 4 weeks, and b) inform DVLA. Former; O.K., will bite bullet. Latter; I'm going to wait until I've been to the T.I.A. clinic and had it confirmed as what it was. a) what (if anything) will DVLA do?
  • Advice on a second car 3 Mar 2019 (Forum)
However I'm now looking at spending around £4.5-5k and getting a 1.6 petrol Nissan Qashqai. (2009 roughly).  It'll just be for daily drives - so around 20/30 miles on country roads, and infrequently used for longer drives and on the motorway. It'll just be nicer to have the higher driving position and also not to have two of the same car really.
  • Clutch abuse, or not? 24 Aug 2017 (Forum)
Hi, I was in the passenger seat with swmbo last night when I noticed her driving style with the clutch seemed unusual. We drive on a 70mph road before coming to a roundabout and taking the 3rd exit, so slowing right down. About 150 yards out from the roundabout she put her foot on the clutch, soon after put car into 2nd and then left foot on clutch all the way until she was hafway around the roundabout.
  • Using your mobile phone whilst driving - New penalty points system 18 Sep 2016 (Forum)
Can someone explain the new rules which start in 2017 affecting drivers who use their phones whilst driving? Does this only apply to drivers who physically hold a phone or are hands free exempt? I have one of those clip on units which Bluetooth into my phone , which require you to dial up the number on the phone whilst stationary or taking a call on the move simply by pressing a button on the unit..
  • Nissan Almera Tino - is it okay to drive with air con compressor broke? 21 Jul 2016 (Forum)
I am thinking to perhaps wait to see if it gets through the MOT in November and if all okay then sort the air con, well get a professional I know to. Question is, will driving it with this broken compressor cause further damage? Could something overheat?
  • Ford Galaxy - All Wheel Drive vs bigger engine on new Galaxy 24 May 2015 (Forum)
I am about to buy the new Ford Galaxy but have a dilemma. I want the most powerful engine but I would also like the All Wheel Drive option. However, for some curious reason you can't have the two together. I don't do any off road and am troubled by snow perhaps once or twice a year, but I don't really know if AWD has every day benefits that would be better for me than the extra power.
  • Mitsubishi Outlander - Specialist who can replace satnav hard drive? 6 Nov 2014 (Forum)
Are there any car IT/satnav/AV specialists who could fit a new hard drive and reinstall the software without being held to ransom by Mitsubishi?
  • Kia ceed - Recommend a car for 20K miles a year 21 Feb 2014 (Forum)
I will be doing alot of motorway driving and looking at drivingup to 20k miles per year.  I would like to get a car that is less than 4 years old and less than 60K miles and deliver as high MPG as possible, doesn't need to be exciting to drive, but as spending most of the time in it would like it to be comfy for motorway journeys and fun to drive if possible..
  • Ford Fiesta - Possibility of new driving licence being revoked! Please help! 24 Dec 2012 (Forum)

  • Chrysler Voyager SE - Engine losing power while driving 31 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Car is dated 1997.  In 2010 it had a tendency suddenly to lose power while driving.  Could keep going short distances but then lost power completely.  Usually started again after 10 minutes to an hour.  Symptoms of fuel starvation, but garage could not find problem, despite running Chrysler diagnostics.
  • Chritsmas Drink drive warning 10 Dec 2011 (Forum)
I would like to share an experience with you to do with drinking and driving. As you know, some of us have had brushes with the authorities on our way home after an event. Well I for one have done something about it. The other night I was out for dinner and a few drinks with some friends.
