Don't think its in an engine yet, but the hope/speculation is that it could reduce the need for / load on the DPF. Gas co-combustion also reduces diesel emissions and has been used in operational engines (was poipular in Australia) but seems to ibe more complex. -

Having recently read in the paper and Auto Express about some chap who devised a way to drive petrol cars more economically, by accelerating flat out upto 2000 rpm in each gear then changing up, I was wondering what the most economical way to drive my diesel car (1.5dci Megane)? The article in Auto Express stated that because of the differences in the fuel injection systems between petrol and diesel, his method didn't work with diesel engines. -

Interesting article in the weekend press where the fuel economy of a 1.1 litre petrol Citroen C1 was compared with a 1.4HDI diesel C1 on a complete lap of the M25 at 50 mph (traffic & cameras permitting). Contrary to expectations the the diesel car achieved 82.7 mpg at a cost of £6.37, whilst the petrol engined motor returned a remarkable 85.5 mpg at a cost of £6.10. -

Hi - mine is a 2008 model, a4 avant 2litre diesel. All running fine and done 75k miles. Cambelt was changed last week and the guy said there was a dent in the fuel tank, not huige but it had been mishaped. He suggests it may be a blocked breather. -
