  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 00 1.9 Intermittent battery light illumination 29 Jan 2009 (Forum)
The alternator was replaced 2 years ago, and one of the leads from the alternator to the battery was professionally repaired 18 months ago (because of complete car failure). I work for a battery company, and the car's battery is operating well.......the car starts well, so the battery must be receiving a charge.

The two items, viz., battery module and pcb are pressed together by sponge behind the battery module. Over time the curled metal contacts lose their springiness, the solder pads become compressed and the contact becomes intermittent and then fails, mimicing battery failure.

  • Longest Lasting Battery 31 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Just wondered if anyone could beat the 10 years that the original battery lasted on my Fiat Mirafiori which I scrapped in about 1986. Pity the floor wasn't made from the same material as the Marelli Battery.

  • Toyota Yaris 2009 TR 1.0 - Confused about battery 15 Feb 2023 (Forum)
I need to replace my battery. Found one on ebay for a good price. Checked against my current battery specs and it seems it would fit. Ebay system says incompatible but not trusting it, I asked the seller and they also said not compatible, and sent me a link to another battery which they said would fit, but that one has different dimensions (?).
  • Jaguar XF 3.0 S X250 - Changing Battery X250 2015 XF & Avoiding Issues 16 Dec 2022 (Forum)
I understand the logic in keeping the power supply going whilst changing the battery with a OBDll battery saver but this type of work is not exactly my forte so would I be better taking the car to a Jaguar specialist? I'd greatly appreciate any advice from someone who has successfully changed the battery on their facelift X250 XF.
  • Volkswagen Polo IV (2002-2005) - 02 1.4 buying and fitting a new battery 2 Feb 2010 (Forum)
Halfords want £95 + £5 fitted for a 70 amp battery. I am confident of the quality of the battery from the VW dealers but how good are the batteries from Halfords, am I correct in thinking that a difference of the amp hours (70/72) of these batteries is negligeable .
  • Vauxhall Meriva B - Parasitic battery drain 4 Dec 2020 (Forum)
Hi my Meriva has a battery drain issue that is proving tricky to resolve. The battery and alternator are apparently fine but the battery is being drained when the vehicle is off. It is currently with the garage but they are scratching their heads after checking all the fuses and relays to no avail.

  • Fiesta MK4 1998 - Battery charger.. 29 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Hello there, I have a 1998 ford fiesta mk4 with obviously a 12V battery.   What kind of charger do you recommend I charge this battery with? It will not hold it's charge for longer than a day and I know nothing is draining it down. So i'm going to try to charge it before I replace the battery..
  • battery life 18 Jan 2024 (Forum)
Is it best to keep a battery on smart charge when the car is not in use to prolong the life, or is it better to just use the vehicle  and cycle the normal charge/run down process? In other words, do lead-acid batteries benefit from being worked?

Why is it batteries have never advanced from the lead acid principle when smaller batteries used in the electronic gadgetry have advanced leaps and bounds. They seem to stuck in time!!. And there is bound to a knowledgeable backroomer to shed light on this one.
  • Dacia Duster - Battery charger 20 Dec 2024 (Forum)
Hi all, I have a small compact charger that I connect to the car battery during wintery conditions to keep the fairly new battery "topped up" the unit is not designed to charge a flat battery & I've used it a lot in Winter. What I'm going to do this winter is connect the charger to the battery as normal, the unit would then be plugged into a waterproof socket outside the garage.
