Volvo V40 - Excessive Tyre Wear? 21 May 2015 (Forum)
Volvo V40 D2 is only at 7k miles after 12 months but the front tyres (continental) are already down to 3mm even wear. Would this be typical for this make of tyre or could it point to an alignment issue? Many thanks -
Kia Picanto 1.25 (2011) - Rear tyre wear 4 Mar 2013 (Forum)
NS rear tyre showing signs of wear on outer edge of tread after just 8000 miles. If it was a front wheel I would suspect wheel alignment, but on the rear????? Any ideas anyone before I take it to a dealer. -

Tyre Wear - 1992 AStra SRi estate 29 Mar 2007 (Forum)
My 1992 AStra SRi estate (186k miles) pulls to the left, has wheel vibration at 72-76mph and wears the front tyres on the inner edges. In spite repeated balancings and wheel alignments these conditions persist. Any ideas anyone? Brian -
new citroen c5 headlamps. 21 Sep 2005 (Forum)
anyone know how to mask off the xenon headlights on the c5 for driving on the right on the continent. There is nothing in the handbook and as far as I can see no alignment markings on the headlight itself. Citroen do a kit of sorts but it is expensive at £40 approx and not very practical either. MerivaA - Drivers Front Wheel inner Tyre wear 4 May 2020 (Forum)
Hi, so the car front wheels seem to have a mind of their own, they follow any groves within the road, today i have also noticed inner Tyre wear on the drivers side do you think the wheel alignment is out? -
Suzuki Swift - Rejecting a car from a dealer 17 Feb 2019 (Forum)
I dipped the oil, to find the oil level was a good 10 mm over the fill mark and the air filter hadn't been changed. The oil also smelt (in my opinion) quite strongly of petrol. After taking it to get the wheel alignment checked I found out the alignment was way off. Getting that sorted helped the steering slightly but it still wont self centre. I called the dealer who said he was at a loss as to why the steering wasn't self centring. -
Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 00 1.8 Renewed suspension still troublesome 25 Aug 2008 (Forum)
One thing I noticed is the upper mounting cup (under bonnet) has a slight gap between the rubber ring and the body - most noticeable on the passenger side. Would this have any negative effects and would replacing them help? Also, during the alignment the guy never adjusted the rear toe setting. Does this need to be adjusted or how can I check it? Thanks for your expertise fellas. -
Ford Mondeo - Rear Windscreen Washer Jet 16 Nov 2010 (Forum)
The rear windscreen washer jet is very good at washing the road not the windscreen ! Anyone any ideas on how to align it ? Using a pin results in a bent pin ! Using a stronger needle results in a broken needle ! Cheers, Mike. -
Speedo digit changing 31 Mar 2005 (Forum)
I've always wondered about speedo digits on older cars being not in alignment and those that say this is a sure way of telling that a cars been clocked. Are speedo's foolproof in this respect? ie digits not in line, even by a small amount = clocked??? I know about the shiny wheel and worn pedals bit. -
mk2 golf door hinge 29 Aug 2003 (Forum)
The drivers side door on my 2 door golf is not aligned correctly. I have read that the 2 door models have heavy doors which will sag over time. I think I need new pins. But which ones are these and how do I fit new ones? Cheers -
07 Toyota Avensis T-Spirit 2.2 turbo diesel 150bhp - Warning lights 20 Oct 2014 (Forum)
Advised me that I take it to main dealer who had it for a week. They changed the sensor for a new one and carried out the 4 wheel alignment several times. No avail. They asked me to tell them if I ever got it fixed. Suggested I try replacing the ABS pump. Got my mechanic to do this with a 2nd hand one. No avail. -
Chevrolet Matiz 2008 SE - Abnormal noise / Vibration from front axle of car? 14 Nov 2012 (Forum)
I have to use my car for work and I am scared I will have a blow out on the way to work... Just to recap the service was carried out on 13/09 and the geo alignment is written down as 'Geo-align (tyre wear + off> et wheel)'. They have recommended changing both front tyres due to worn inner + edges and I have the car booked in with the manufacturers for new tyres also next week. -
HJ; answers - repairs 11 Sep 2012 (Forum)
Needless to say, the car is back at the body shop. They claim to have performed a wheel alignment check and to have driven the vehicle on a test run. After my motorway experience I drove into a branch of ATS and asked them to look at the shock absorbers. They put the car on a ramp and immediately declared that the offside rear suspension area had been damaged enough to put the wheel visibly out of alignment. -
Another bad VW dealer story 4 Jun 2005 (Forum)
When they went to collect it they were presented with a kind of 'MoT style' check list which stated that both front tyres were 'badly worn' and the wheel alignment needed attention. This was quoted at about £70 for each tyre (185/60-14H) and £115 (!!!) to check the front wheel alignment. The dealer offered to 'sort this out' on the spot! When they asked whether the knocking had been fixed they were told that it hadn't and that the car would have to be left for three days because 'panels would need to be removed'. -
