the ultimate screen cleaner? 12 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I have enormous problems trying to clean my windscreen of a waxy substance. I don't know if it is the rain repellant liquid or something else. The thing is I have tried virtually everything and it does not make any difference. It is so bad that driving in rain at night on a motorway nearly caused an accident. -
Jeep Grand Cherokee - Car dangerous 2 months after sale 19 Aug 2016 (Forum)
Now i want to know how the hell can the mot station allow this car to pass 2 months ago??? The seller said he'd only used the car for a year and sounded pretty genuine about everythingand also not knowing anything about cars....or a great play actor.. so now i'm left out of pocket with a car the garage said would be incredibly unadvisable to drive. -
chevrolet cruze Hatchback - Car pulling left all the time. 5 Feb 2016 (Forum)
right i've asked this before but have some new updates. my car pulls to the left ( passenger side in uk ) all the time... it feels like i have a slightly flat tire on the front left side ( where it pulls ) but it isn't all tires are set at 34 psi ( check regularly) Had multiple Alignments done, the last one was with a very highly recommended guy who told me the geometry of the car is fine and there is no reason that the car should be pulling left. -

Volkswagen Polo IV (2005 - 2009) - Car leasing 25 Aug 2009 (Forum)
I have had leased cars for many years (including VWs) and have never, ever, had to pay back one penny in 'refurbishment'. The inspector said I needed two new tyres at the front - the VW dealer I subsequently took the car to for their opinion, disagreed and said the tyres were legal. -
A170 CDI front springs 6 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Hi any experience of front spring breakage on a class with 78000 miles up. I replaced the rear spring about 18 months ago nut now ione of the fronts has gone. I intend to have a specialist do this job asd i presume the front struts need removing and compressing to get the springs out. -

Vauxhall Corsa - Corsa cutting out in 2nd gear 11 Dec 2018 (Forum)
On Saturday night I was driving my car and it started smoking I drove through a puddle so I thought t was the heat from my breaks being warm and the water being cold. There was a smell of burning through the car but no engine lights came on. -
Golf Mark 7.5 / 2020 - Owned used car 1week, sidewall puncture cheap tyre 8 Aug 2024 (Forum)
As it's a sidewall puncture it cannot be a repair, and besides it's a really cheap Nexim tyre, which doesn't match any of the others (front left is a winter Michelin tyre, front right and back left are Dunlop tyres, we didn't think to check the tyre makes / matching). AA chap says they really should match at least each rear with each other, and two front tyres with each other, and one front tyre only being a winter tyre is odd and could make the car view one way or another. -
Why is my Focus leaking diesel? 28 Jul 2014 (Ask HJ)
I have a Ford Focus 1.6 Diesel (2012) which occasionally drops fluid over my driveway. Initially I thought this was oil, but after a service they could... -
Toyota Avensis - Flimsy bodywork and paintwork 25 May 2014 (Forum)
Any journey of more than 100 kms these days seems to wipe out entire insect colonies, leaving encrusted bodies, wings and blood over the whole of the front of the car and the mirrors. Colleagues who changed cars at the same time as me who opted for Zafira, Scenic and C-Max models all have cars which look almost showroom-new, despite similar mileages and mostly on-street parking. -

Honda Civic UK (2001 - 2005) - 01 1.6 Front wipers not working 21 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Hi, I am a owner of HONDA CIVIC 1.6 SE VTEC (Y-REG 2001) and for the last few weeks my front workers are not working properly. Only the fast mode on the wiper works but i cannot turn off the wipers or put in either slow or intermittent mode. I showed the car to a mechanic who said that the relay has gone and for me to buy the part from Honda but he will not be back for 3 weeks as he is going on holida. -
Are PHEVs expensive to run and maintain? 18 Nov 2022 (Ask HJ)
I haven't seen any discussion on maintenance costs for PHEV. Presumably, it must be quite expensive since you are maintaining an EV plus an ICE? -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - Got me some new wheels :-) 16 Dec 2009 (Forum)
Features wise she doesn't have much more than my last Mondeo, I think the only extras are a much better Sony sound system and auto lights/wipers. The other fairl major factor is that the heated seats work much more effectively, they heat more quickly and get hotter, I never thought that this would be a benefit but it makes the car far more comfortable! Economy so far has been highly disappointing (about 30mpg), however, I topped up the tyres tonight and one of them was down to 17psi (instead of 40!) -
Car wheel leans out 12 Jan 2011 (Ask HJ)
I have put new wheels on my car, and the front right wheel leans out slightly. Could this be the result of the wishbone being damage or the suspension?... -
How is a New Car "Prepared" 20 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I am collecting my brand new car at the end of next week, and a week later I am driving to France in it. Now normally before a large drive like that (especially in the summer) I would apply lashings of wax to the front of car and polish it up to make it as "smooth" as possible to minimise the amount of dead insects.
