Better looking estates 20 Jul 2003 (Forum)
What estate cars look better than the saloon or hatch they are based on. My list is Rover 75, New Avensis, Alfa 156, most BMW touring(s), most volvos, new mondeo. And I always loved the look of the old rover 3.5 when they had the non standard estate conversion. -
What auto? 16 Oct 2002 (Forum)
(as she has to ferry kids around, school runs and day trips mostly!). I was thinking along the lines of either a Volvo 440 or maybe somthing else of similar size. Thanks. -
Showroom appeal - when does the shine wear off? 5 May 2009 (Forum)
When the Verso was new, I used to look forward to the one day a week I'd take it on my long drive to work in place of my Volvo, both to give it some exercise and to prolong the Volvo's life. I could play podcasts from my iPod without messing about with the fiddly Griffin FM thingy, and generally enjoy being a bit higher up, having a wiper to clear the rain off the rear window, and being in something that still smelled new and clean. -
Volvo S60 (2000 - 2009) - Bye bye S60... :-( 8 Feb 2010 (Forum)
The 5 cylinder engines are peachy smooth, gutsy and sound great, reliability is first class, they have a level of comfort I haven't found in any other car anywhere near its class, and even the base models (such as mine was) are loaded with toys. Unlike a lot of other manufacturers, Volvo seem able to design it so it all keeps working as the car ages as well. Literally apart from one heated mirror, everything works, and has always done so. I will miss its comfort, its styling, and its sheer feel good factor to drive. -

Worst car you’ve ever driven? 16 May 2020 (Forum)
Some cars that were unpleasant did redeem themselves by being cheap or robust or useful off road, Lada Niva springs to mind or they were long lived and reliable - Nissan Bluebird/Volvo 240. 10 Seat Ibiza Mk I (all versions) 9 Fiat Uno Selecta CVT 8 Ford Fiesta Mk II CVT 7 Lada Riva 6 FSO Polonez 5 1990 Ford Escort Mk V 1.4/1.8D/CVT 4 Suzuki Vitara 1.6 JLX 3 Volvo 340 CVT 2 Daihatsu Fourtrak 2.8 DL 1 Suzuki SJ410 What cars have you driven that made you want to get out at the first bus stop and leave the thing behind? -
Number plate misreported at accident, insurance th 4 Nov 2018 (Forum)
Around three weeks ago I was got out of bed around 11pm to allow a police officer to look at my car. 2 weeks earlier a Volvo had reversed into another car while the owner was away from it and a shop keeper had MISTAKENLY given my registration. The police were satisfied it was nothing to do with me, my car isn't a Volvo. -

Keep the Octavia or replace? 21 Jun 2012 (Forum)
So do I repair the Octavia with the mileage creaping up? Or do I replace it with something lower mileage? In addition to this I've found a Volvo S40 1.8S (I've always loved Volvos) on a 55 Plate with 66k on it and a FVSH. Its up for £4450. I figure it'll hold its value better being lower mileage and a more desirable car. So what would you do? -

Rear leg and head room 7 Mar 2004 (Forum)
I have found the same with the new Toyota Avensis. It has better legroom than the Volvo but the headroom is poor. I think that when cars are tested, consideration should be given to tall people when assessing leg and headroom. This is usually done when assessing the driving position but not when assessing the room for rear seat passengers. -
Highway Code 5 May 2002 (Forum)
After an incident involving myself and a woman Volvo driver today I think it would be a good call for a Highway Code refresher test to be introduced to all drivers. After turning left onto a street which had cars parked on either side ie one lane only available I saw a Volvo driver reverse out of her drive saw me obviously waiting for her to drive back onto her drive to clear the road but no she continued to reverse then had the gaw to drive head on upto my car. -
Luxury MPV trend 5 Oct 2023 (Forum)
A director at a company we use was telling me they have ordered a new Lexus LM 7 seater luxury MPV to ferry staff about as a pool car; this is in addition to a Maxus Mifa 9 they have ordered. Apparently they had to be quick with the Lexus order despite it costing £87k! Volvo are also bringing out a luxury MPV. I take it the luxury MPV market is lucrative for manufacturers? -
James May 2 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Those that like cars and those that don't. But I'll make two points. Are BMW drivers aggressive? And are Volvo drivers blind? Well, there's no smoke without fire."
