  Hi folks. I've been driving a Mazda Premacy (reg'd 2000) for the last 6 years and the thing that I liked about it best was the fact that it had three "proper" seats in the back. I was able to carry 3 adults and two children comfortably for hundreds of miles and still have room for a boot load of luggage.

  Having just read HJ's news on the discounts on various Mazdas, and the especially reasonable price for the RX-8, I wonder if Backroomers can think of any other manufacturer which has had a year like the rejuvenated Mazda. In the last 12 months they have launched the Mazda6, arguably the most beautiful 3 box saloon since, err, the Xedos.

  In the recent hot weather my wife noticed that the air conditioning in her Mazda 323 (1998 new shape) was not chilling sufficiently. The car was looked at by a Mazda garage, who re-gassed the system, added a flourescent dye and pointed out that the condenser had sustained a tiny hole (possibly made by a stone entering through the lower front grille at speed), which was now leaking out the refrigerant.

  It will be travelling 50-odd miles per day so we will see how economy fares at dual carriageway speeds. Why diesel?  Well, despite HJ's best attempts to convince us that Mazda's diesel woes are finished, I just has a little voice in the back of my head saying NO. That and the £7k saving over new! It's been given a dose of Collinite and looks great. I'll let you know how the mpg pans out over the next few months.
