  • Braking through corners 23 Jun 2007 (Forum)
    I have noticed in my area that learner drivers are being taught to drive as if the car is rear wheel drive, i.e. Brake at the apex of the corner, instead of before and accelerate through the corner. Or is it just me? {Typo in subject header corrected - DD}

  • Things that have hit you? 24 Apr 2005 (Forum)

  • Rockingham 24 Mar 2005 (Forum)

  • Cambelt Busters 21 Sep 2003 (Forum)
    HJ is keen on chains for cam drives as belts, it seems, are liable to break. Are belt breakages down to anything in particular, such as hard driving? Are some cars known belt-busters? Where can I make a chain/belt comparison online for a prospective new purchase?
  • Automatic or Manual 15 May 2009 (Forum)
    Hi there, I'm looking to buy a used car, preferably a reliable brand like a Honda or a Toyota but I can't decide whether I should go automatic or not. I've been driving a manual since passing my driving test a few years ago, but I've been thinking of getting an automatic after test driving a few in the past. I don't drive that much, maybe once a week, it will be mainly my wife who will be driving back and forth to work (about 3-4 miles only) every day.

    It was a lot more difficult to get it started again aswell...finaly when it did go, again it ticked over fine, no misfire or anything, but dies as soon as drive is engaged and accelerator is pressed. Hope someone has an idea...its an old car but so easy and comfortable to drive, and until now very reliable. Regards, and thanks in advance for any help. Graeme.

  • Audi A3 Thoughts 12 Nov 2004 (Forum)
    I haven't driven a Sport for comparison, and I'm not flavour of the month at the dealers since I mentioned Drive the Deal! Will I find the Sport spine jarring after the SE and being used to my comfy merc? My other thought was the Saab 9-3, really enjoyed driving the car which has a good 1.9 diesel and the best seats ever, superb interior too and a great looking car.
  • Hybrids for motorways 8 Jun 2023 (Forum)
    However, my concern is that most hybrids don't seem to return particularly good mpg figures for my kind of driving. Am I right in saying that for my driving habits, a hybrid is not probably not ideal? If I can find something that is significantly better on fuel that also ticks all the other boxes for me, I will consider it.

  • N/A - Drivers licence and purchasing a car in the UK 27 Jan 2022 (Forum)
    Hi there, this is probably a REALLY stupid question, but do I need a physical copy of my driving licence in order to buy an approved used car? I need to change address on my driving licence, and (for reasons unbeknownst to me) I'm unable to change my address online.  So I'll need to send it off, and (according to the latest info) I'll be lucky to get it back before 2054.

  • Any - Not Using Car for 6 to 8 Weeks 4 Jul 2018 (Forum)
    A few weeks ago, I ended up having major heart surgery. Under the guidelines I will not be able to drive for another 4 to 6 weeks until my cardiologist gives me the all clear although to be honest at the moment I would not as I feel far from fit enough. My two cars (daily driver X-type and a classic Vauxhall) are parked up but I was wondering how to keep the cars themselves fit for driving.
