New BMW brakes 15 May 2003 (Forum)
I have just replaced the discs and pads all round (£180 all up -not bad for a Beemer)on my 1990 E30 318IS and am interested in a few things. Firstly, what is the best/most effective way to run in the new brakes ie. what driving style to adopt in order to prevent warping/pitting/grooving/glazing etc etc. as I have heard that these brakes a vulnerable to the above. Secondly could someone explain why having rear discs improves braking performance so much and what percentage of the braking is done by the rears? -

ANY - Used Brake Shoes/Pads Disposal? 2 Apr 2018 (Forum)
Looking for a spare pair of old brake shoes to reeplace my suspected brake-fluid contaminated pair, I found I'd also kept the pair that prompted the last replacement, which have detached linings. If I was in India I might be able to get a "brake shoe wallah" to glue them back on, but here in Taiwan I can't think of a reason to keep them. -
Volvo XC60 D5 Auto - Brake Disc Life 6 Jul 2016 (Forum)
My questions are 1) whether 50k miles reasonable time to replace brake discs? 2) whether others experienced similar on this model? 3) if early wear is unusual and caused by a sticking hand brake whether it should covered under warranty as a latent defect? -

Volkswagen Polo - Brake Discs replaced after 7000 miles ? 16 Apr 2014 (Forum)
My partner bought a 2013 Polo about 9 months ago, the mileage of the car is now 7,000 - Last week she noticed a juddering when braking, i presume this suggests the front brake discs - unfortunately the warranty seems to cover the first 6,000 miles or first 6 months. Would i be correct in assuming its the brake discs? - it seems a bit strange that they need replaced after 7,000 miles, should she be taking care of the cost of this? -

The oild/rear brake/coolant/brake fluid have all been reset by the garage in the last couple of years as these have been done, but this has got them stumped as well. Is this a dealer only fix or is there a knack to this! -

Vauxhall Vectra B (1995 - 1999) - 99 2.0 Grinding noise on braking 18 Oct 2009 (Forum)
When I rotate the rear wheels (handbrake off, gear selector in neutral), they spin for about five or six revolutions before coming to a halt, but produce the grinding sound that I hear, although not as loud as when I'm braking. If I brake hard there is no noise and the brakes are effective. Any ideas? -
Ford Galaxy (1995 - 2006) - 01 1.9 tdi zetec - braking problem 4 Aug 2009 (Forum)
my galaxy has developed a braking fault over the last couple of days, most of the times when you brake its fine but on the odd occiasion you have braked and braked again but harder the pedal goes really hard and stopping doesnt always occur straight away, I have checked the pads all ok with no warning lights, could it be the ABS or servo leaking, its only just started to do this and been fine since we have owned it over 2yrs!!! -

Bleeding brakes 15 May 2001 (Forum)
I have been spoiled by owning green-fluid Citroens where the system pressurises itself if the engine is running and the brake pedal propped "open". Fluid changes and brake bleeding were a simple one-man operation:-) Any comments much appreciated.
