Rover 414, Squeaking brakes? 24 May 2004 (Forum)
Over the last thousand or so miles my Rover 414 (96N) has developed a high pitched intermittant squeaking noise from the drivers side front. It happens at all speeds, sounds like the brake pads are just touching the disk and comes and goes as the car corners or goes over bumps. I can make it stop by lightly applying the brakes but it comes back again after braking. Just before I bought the car in late Feb it was MOTed by the supplying garage who said they had replaced the front brakes (and a rear wheel cylinder) to get it through the MOT. -

Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 18 Months Of Brake Noise ! - Can Anyone Advise ? 7 Oct 2008 (Forum)
... they said it's damp getting into the brakes, but the brakes still squeak on a hot summers day ! 5. The car then developed an occasional click when the brake was pressed so we went back to Kwik-fit to so if they could do something about the click and the squeaky brakes - they didn't cure the squeak, and blamed the click on the wheel bearings and quoted us £320 for new ones. -
Left-foot braking 1 May 2023 (Forum)
Once again I have read about HJ saying that automatic drivers should left-foot brake. I cannot follow his logic as surely this should apply to manual car drivers too? The left foot uses the clutch or is redundant. In both cases the right foot uses the brakes and accelerator. -

Looking as the US recall sites, it seems most Korean cars manufactured c.2007 had this fault and were recalled to fit new switch Does anybody know of a recall in Europe ? -

Periodically over more than a year there is a loud "canary" or "football rattle" type noise from the rear wheels/brakes. This noise is not present whilst the brakes are being applied. My Alfa garage has been unable to solve the problem and has changed the rear brake calipers. Any ideas please? -
Volkswagen Polo III (1994 - 1999) - 98 1.6 Brake warning light problem 11 May 2009 (Forum)
My brake warning light came on today with an alarm. It went off again after about 30 seconds and then did it again. The manual says to check the brake fluid and check that the Handbrake is off which I've done, the front brakes were done recently on the MoT. -
Brake life - Automatics and DSG 17 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Would I be right in thinking that brake lining life (e.g. front pads) is significantly shorter in cars with automatics than manual transmission? With the new DSG boxes from VAG, do these perform active engine braking - by that I mean do they change down gear when slowing down in a way that engine braking is significant? -

Renault Modus (2004 - ) - Where is the brake fluid reservior? 30 Sep 2008 (Forum)
Hello all, I was wondering if there are any Modus owners out there - I have my driving test on Friday - however, for the life of me I can't find the brake fluid reservior in the engine... and it's a tiny engine. "Open the bonnet, identify where the brake fluid reservoir is and tell me how you would check that you have a safe level of hydraulic brake fluid. " Does anyone know.
