I've always wondered whether, when you're waiting at a junction or in a traffic jam, it's best to put the car into neutral or leave it in Drive but put your foot on the brake or apply the handbrake?

  Now with a young son she is keen to start driving as public transport cannot be relied on. She wants to go for an automatic licence but her partner (who coincidentally drives an automatic) wants her to go for a manual one. With increasing traffic volumes and no real interest on her part in driving a manual I think automatic only would be fine and probably lead to get getting on the road quicker.

  Kia/ Hyundai DUAL-CLUTCH TRANSMISSION (DCT) Problems Apparently there is a big problems with the & 7 speed DCT (dual clutch transmission) automatic transmission. I believe they are fitted to a range of Kia/Hyundai cars, I believe Ceeds/Optima/Sportage etc.   It is an automatic gearbox without a torque converter.     Have you had issues with your Kia/Hyundai DCT automatic transmission 7 Speed?

This is my first automatic and I have immediately noticed both poorer performance at low speeds and overall much higher petrol consumption.
