something different- washing machines. 16 Feb 2012 (Forum)
The new location has both hot and cold connections. I am thinking it would be more efficient to fill the washer with hot water we already have on storage, rather than cold and have the washer heat it up with an electric element. Would it affect the washing machine to do this? Our dishwasher is a hot fill device and has worked for over 20 years without a problem. -
Any - Snooping Or? 11 May 2011 (Forum)
I imagine that I will get a letter from them soon. It does seem irrelevant as most lockups are used for storage these days being too narrow for modern cars. -
Honda Civic - Seized dust caps 16 Jul 2010 (Forum)
So, I bought some cheap metal/aluminium replacements off ebay. However, as I went to leave my car in storage I was going to pump up the tyres but I couldn't get the caps off. I tried turning them with a spanner and the whole valve just ended up turning in the tyre, which seemed strange but didn't cause any damage. -
peugeot 306 - ACCIDENT RECOVERY RIP-OFF? 7 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Hi there my wife's son had an accident (fortunately uninjured) which led to the recovery services being called by the Police as the car was upside down on the road & needed to be recovered urgently.OK so far.If he wants the car back he has been quoted @£360 for the recovery & £20 per day storage plus the sc*** value of the car (a Peugeot 306 TD) from Norwich Recovery. We asked around for recovery prices from other local recovery firms & their recovery costs seem to substantially lower. Can I do anything about it? -
Nissan 200SX (1994 - 2001) - 97 2.0 Not revving 8 Feb 2009 (Forum)
When I start the car with the afm disconnected it will rev fine up to 2500 where it seems to hit a rev limiter, as soon as I reconnect the the afm it struggles to idle and won't rev at all. Does this sound like the afm has been damaged in storage? The two wires in the afm look in tact. Please someone help. Thanks, Rob. -
Getting a seized vehicle back 7 Feb 2009 (Forum)
He is kicking himself for overlooking it as his company has 4 taxed, insured and MOT'ed vans. He has been told to produce Ins cert and driving licence in order to get van released from storage compound. Now despite a long and exhaustive search, he can't find that licence. The police have confirmed that a check with DVLA reveals him to have a clean , current licence and they are happy with his ID . -

Mystery Motorway Exit... 17 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Does anyone know where the mysterious 'Works Exit' junction lead to that's situated between J14 & J13 east bound on the M4? I've heard that it's some sort of secret nuclear bunker or even a missile storage site. The fact that the sign is permanent - and not a temporary flimsy ?works traffic? type only adds to the mystery. The other day my curiosity got the better of me so I decided to take the exit. -
Volvo 145 1 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Orange with brown plastic seats...it just about defined motoring in the early 70s. I can see the dash with that strip speedo, the underfloor storage in the back, every detail really. Those were the days when a Volvo was in a class alone from Cortina's and the like. Every antique dealer had one with a big flat roof rack. If it was nearer I'd just have to get it for old times sake! -
One to watch 21 Jan 2002 (Forum)
What this may mean is that when the end of the petroleum economy inevitably comes, Europe and elsewhere will find themselves complying with the US technology and standards touching on propulsion and hydrogen storage and distribution. Not necessarily a bad thing, you're using Windows aren't you? However, unless the Europeans get their act together and see this one coming they're going to be in a permanently subordinate role. -
Toyota Avensis (2009 - ) - New Avensis 16 Jan 2009 (Forum)
This was an estate and the bolt looked VERY small for a car of this size, defeats the object. Lots of plastic storage under the floor but how do you get the sofa home from IKEA? I don't think you would get into the armrest storage with the rear seats tipped up (you have to slide the top back before it will lift! -
Parking Fine - This Can't Be Right? 19 Jun 2006 (Forum)
On Friday evening, my car was removed to a car pound. I paid the fine for the second ticket when collecting my vehicle (along with removal and storage charges*). I knew nothing about the first ticket until receiving a demand for payment from the council. No ticket was attached to my car when I collected it from the car pound, and no ticket was handed to me there. -
Poor fuel quality Kent SE England? Vol 3 7 Mar 2007 (Forum)
It is thought silicone may have found its way into a batch of petrol in transit by ship into the UK or in storage containers. Silicone is a compound containing the element silicon. Its uses include insulation and lubrication..... Automotive expert Professor Malcolm Fox, from the University of Leeds, said all the signs pointed towards some form of liquid silicone having got into the fuel. -
MGB - MGB (Modified) way down on power 1 Dec 2022 (Forum)
Compression is very good. Carb has been rejetted. It was in the rolling road a few years back before it was put into storage and was showing 101hp at flywheel on twin SUs and standard head. We’ve been through most obvious things. Could for some reason the cam be a tooth out (can’t think how or why…). Anyone any other thoughts? -
Honda CRV EX 2007-12 some Accords, Acuras - Honda clock problem 1stJan 22 now fixed partially 30 Oct 2022 (Forum)
The clock takes a satellite signal & sets the time. It satellite counts the seconds from 2002 and 19 years later it ran out of digit storage. The good news is the satellite is re-booted after 19.6 years. Instead of showing the time it only came up 1.00 and then counted up. Yesterday I noticed it showed 9.55 am! -
Honda Jazz - Bike Rack for a 2012 Honda Jazz 29 Apr 2022 (Forum)
My Car has nothing, no tow bar and nor roof bars. So I would need to get them installed. And no Interior storage is not an option owing I need the space for a child sea and luggage. So what is my best option? I know I need a new car, thats going to be later. Does it make sense to get installed a tow bar or roof bars? -

Any - Family car for under £6k challenge 17 May 2012 (Forum)
Must be able to seat a 6' tall person in the passenger seat with the baby seat behind it. Can't have under floor storage, must be reliable and have a large boot. If it's a diesel it can't have a DPF. Hit me up with your suggestions. The only car that fits most of those criteria at the moment is a Renault Megane Estate 1.5 DCI, or a Peugeot 307 SW 1.6 HDI, but I'm rather scared of those with reliability side of things (and with the pug the DPF). -
2xQuattrac3 + 2x Rain Expert ..mixing all weather 1 Feb 2012 (Forum)
With 12k on them , and with fronts most worn on my Front WD diesel, was considering putting 2 vredesteine quatrac 3's on the front..with a view to going to all 4 eventually. Finances a bit tight, as is storage space so winter tyres not an option. I plan to keep the car another 2 years..I know it is not good to mix winter and summer tyres, but would mixing all weathers with regulars be a safety issue..I hope it would provide some improvement over the coming months should the weather turn yukky again..thoughts ??
