• 2013 Mazda 6 Diesel - Fuel not Registering/Fuel Line Issues 4 Mar 2019 (Forum)
  I've just added another 5 litres of diesel to make sure (so about 12 litres in total versus 3 miles of driving) and the fuel readout is still on zero and no fuel is getting through (engine eventually cut out after driving about 100 yards tonight.) Any ideas? Have I plugged the fuel line with all the crap at the bottom of the tank?

  Having problems with loss of power whenever the fuel tank is below quarter full. The car is Vectra 1.8 LS registered April 2004. Fine the rest of the time but fails to respond to accelerator and splutters when this occurs. Could it be dirt in fuel tank?

  How's that done then ? Surely, if you up the power, the engine uses up more fuel. Looking at BR posts, especially with diesels, most people who have had their engine 'chipped' find the car uses LESS fuel. Any ideas ?

  As noted in the news section of the site, handy reductions on fuel prices, which have resulted in only 1p difference in the two fuels, currently in Kettering Diesel is 124.7 at Morrisons and Asda., last week i noticed Diesel at 154 at some MSA's. Handily i had a fuel voucher from last week's M grocery shop which i used filling up on the way home, so an extra 5 p off per litre, not a fortune saved but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

  Turning the key to the second position I do not hear a pump running in the fuel tank as expected, but cannot remember if it ever did before I ran out of fuel. thanks for looking, Mike.

  I can live with a slight dent in the fuel tank as it still takes over 80 quid to fill it!! so the dent is not that big. My concern is if the fuel tank continues to shrink which i will recognise, but what about if it shrinks so quickly that the fuel cannot be sent to the engine - - i dont want to cut out on the motorway!!

  I am in the midst of a "Minimum Fuel Additive Level" situation now and the dealer's dignostic report has many faults including the Fuel Cap Sensor and Fuel Additive ECU. Since there are so many faults I suspect a wiring / connector problem.

  Throttle position sensor (TPS ), fine; Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor, fine; engine temp sensor, fine; idle air control valve, fine and finally PCV not blocked. I have not changed the fuel filter but I would have thought a blockage would cause a lean condition. The fuel return is fine so no blockages. I took the fuel rail off and connected it to the fuel pump to see if the injectors were leaking; they were fine.

  Silly question,I know...... But how is a fuel filter changed on a 406 HDI diesel?
