  • How much should a new BMW heater matrix cost? 13 Jan 2015 (Ask HJ)

  • Volkswagen Passat water pump 5 Jan 2011 (Ask HJ)

  • Polo diesel poor starting 31 Jan 2002 (Forum)
This seems to be helped if I turn the key off when the glow-plug light goes off, then back on again and put some more heat into the plugs before starting. The problem is far worse if the car has been left for a couple of hours, i.e. not time to get properly cold. Then the start-up is horrendously uneven and noisy, unless I do the extra glow-plug heat routine.
  • Is there any way of keeping warm in a classic car with no heater? 21 Nov 2019 (Ask HJ)

  • Mazda 3 - Window Misting 7 Feb 2018 (Forum)
Our car bought in 2018 is very good in most of the gizmos etc on it however there is one very annoying feature and we don't know if it something we are doing or something else.  You can be driving along with no problems and all of a sudden the windscreen and side windows mist up really badly and the only way to clear them is to put the fan on full together with the air conditioning.
  • Peugeot 406 GLX 1998 - Climate Control display blank 1 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Any ideas please. By the way I had a new windscreen fitted yesterday - that couldn't be linked could it - possible short in refitting the rain sensor.
  • Last night's booby prize goes to 16 Dec 2006 (Forum)
The driver of the Ford Focus heading Northbound around junction 27 on the M1 who had a large sat nav system (Navman sized?) half way between the rear view mirror and the base of the windscreen. They didn't appear to have worked out that the unit had a "nightview" setting yet, either.... On an up side, having been tailgated coming off the M5 onto the M42 by a large non artic curtain sided lorry, I was pleased to see him being pulled by a (presumably unmarked) traffic car at the next junction having, I guess, tried the same trick with him!
  • Nuisance Parking 3 May 2006 (Forum)
Someone has taken to parking directly outside his house meaning he's having to park down the street when he'd prefer to park outside his property. I'm inclined to think there's not much he can do except have a chat with the car owner or leave a polite note on the windscreen, but he'd appreciate any ideas/advice you can give. • High pressure spray wash 2 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Scared me --I could see my paint flying off down the road not to mention my wiper blades and bonnet badge. So i did not get over close --result a half clean car. Frankly it really needed a rub over with a sponge to shift the grime. Question how do you use a high pressure spray without dislodging your windscreen ? Any advice please.
