Alfa GT 3.2 V6 - Problems with new(to me) car dealer won't fix! 12 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Also while looking for the leak I noticed the engine stabiliser bar bushes were completely worn out so I replaced that. The cruise control doen't work, passenger heated seat doesn't work and the rear parking sensors do not work also. An intermittent knock developed from the front suspension area, the stabiliser bar ends and a damper were replaced (£230). I found a hole in the exhaust that had been temporarily been patched up and now the water pump is not working and is being replaced today, all the timing belt and tensioners need doing at the same time, as the belts have to be removed to take the pump off (£550 not alfa dealer). -
MINI Cooper S R53 (2002 - 2007) - Rejecting cherished MINI Cooper S 13 Nov 2008 (Forum)
When I booked the car in for this I also asked your Service team (dealership 1) to check the steering rack as it was ?creaking / clunking? when moving the car at low speeds, e.g. parking. I was told that there was nothing wrong with the steering and that it was fine. Knowing there was something definitely wrong with the steering I took the car to Dealership 2, who over this visit and around 3 or 4 other visits replaced the steering column, steering spindle, cd player, heater, clutch, flywheel, drivers door window regulator, drivers armrest pad and a few other parts. -
What Are My Rights if I Buy a Duff Car? 9 May 2007 (Forum)
You can imagine how stupid we felt. I drove the car to work the next day ...fine. When I had finished my shift I got into the car and the same thing happened, car would not work. Informed the dealer who came to my work place and tried to start it, which did not happen. He jump started it, promised to take it away and look at it. -
What would you like to do? 19 Feb 2006 (Forum)
My wife's car has been damaged on the drivers side in the recent past with other deliberate scratches and a broken door mirror. I shall be filling the scratch on my car with a fine brush to stop any rust starting. When my wife obtains some retouch paint I will fill her scratches as well. In neither case do I think it is worth claiming on insurance due to the excess and as both cars are R-reg. -
'93 Polo. Coolant leak? 17 Oct 2005 (Forum)
It was in exactly the same circumstances (same mates house, same journey). What I find odd was the seemingly precise location of the dampness. The rest of the car was fine (but the side that steamed up was the lower side, with the driver side being parked on a path) Checking the coolant, it had dropped again (but nowhere near as much) BUT.....thinking back to Wednesday, I took the folks to the cinema. -
BMW 3-Series E90 (2005 - ) - 325D Final installment 24 Apr 2008 (Forum)
The handbook is a bit sniffy about repairing the run flats, implying that your sort will probably repair them anyway and be it on your own head. It's not that I'm prissy about it or anything. In a six acre car park I only park it so far away from harm it takes me ten minutes to walk to the store entrance. So far in fact that I uncharacteristically forego a pound rather than hitch hike back with the trolley. -
Letter from the Colonies Vol.9 11 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Metro Manila is a vast conurbation made up of many "cities", the mayors of each being empowered to impose their own scale of traffic fines, set their own road rules and so on. Some mayors, mindful of those who elected them and the "cash flow" which accompanies their position (let's just say 10% of any or all contracts they award for starters) decided to arrest the wet rag truck drivers and impound their vehicles. -
Ford Fiesta Zetec 2007 - Ford Fiesta off centre steering 6 May 2017 (Forum)
I'm not sure if it was straight after the work that this occurred, however It was close. I may have also bashed the wheel in an underground car park in London. Anyway I thought, I shall get the alignment checked. So I headed to kwik fit for a check (it had the alignment done when I had 4 new tyres just before xmas). We got it on the machine, quite interested and a little obsessed I observed with eagle eyes. -
none - The case against electric vehicles. 3 Jan 2016 (Forum)
But, in fact, no one would have the idea of offering 10,000 euros to buy a diesel car, her book parking spaces and fill his tank at a knockdown price! -
Vauxhall Vectra C - Vauxhall Vectra ECU nightmare. 23 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Recently I bagan having trouble with my car's windscreen wipers not operating correctly. The wiper motor seemed to be working fine but the wipers would occasionally fail to park properly. Thinking that the wise option would be to exclude the cheapest possible failed item first I elected to change the wiper relay which might be at fault. -

Mercedes Benz E-Class W211 (2002 - 2009) - E320CDI - Running Report 1 May 2009 (Forum)
Very comfortable, practical, quick and satisfying to drive. No, it's not sporty, but that suits me just fine. -
Seat Leon FR TDi 170: 5,500mile report 3 Jan 2007 (Forum)
very hard to rest your arm on! Rear view mirror very large! Windscreen wipes ? clap hands type and I love the way they park vertically, but they are set up for left hand drive, so there is a streak down the drivers side rather than passengers. -
Legal Advice Sought 22 Nov 2005 (Forum)
I wanted to do everything properly with regards to the V5 documentation. I heard nothing for a week. 10 days ago I saw my car parked in a residential street (on the highway itself). I thought this was most odd, so grabbed my spare set of keys to check it. It had been cleaned on the inside. I started it up (thinking the brakes must be fixed for it to get there). -
Magistrate gave false info-license revoked?! Help! 24 Apr 2013 (Forum)
Sometime in late 2011, my partner used the car registered to me and did not realise but bumped the car next to ours while parking. My parter did not realise this and just stayed parked and went to the cinema. Well, some time after that the insurance notified us that there was a claim for some paint damage. This was the 1st we learned about the "accident". -
My Ford Fiesta Review 8 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Clutch is a bit heavy for this sort of car and the massive doors on the 3 door can prove tricky in a car park if someone parks close to you. Little green arrow on rev counter telling you when to change gear is simply not neccessary. Conclusion Fantastic little car, i still think the 1.6 would be the better engine but the 1.4TDCi is thoroughly decent. -
BMW 320d - Worrying bill from no win no fee guys! 20 Sep 2021 (Forum)
The Last summer just before lockdown I had a motorist reverse into my parked car and also hit me as I was standing beside the car, I’ve a witness etc, now this is exactly how it went down… WE exchanged details etc and went on our way, within the hour I had a call from what I was led to believe was my insurance company (they worded it very well) I was of course still shaken up and just went along with it. -
Low mileage Xantia - am I sane to reject 6 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Apart from a scratch over the passenger side rear wheel arch (very common ? presumably reversing) and minor scuffs on either end of the front bumper (turning to park- again very common) the paint was perfect. No external rust, all external bightwork was OK and all lights were uncracked, bright and unfaded. No cracks to screen, all electrics worked and it started first time ( a recent new Halfords battery helped). -
Volvo V60 - The first 10,000 miles 25 Jul 2017 (Forum)
- The space-saver spare wheel takes up the whole of the under-floor compartment, but at least it was available as an option. - I don't like the electronic parking brake, which is for some reason down by my right knee, and is also counter-intuitive in being push forward for on, pull back for off. Give me a proper handbrake any day. - Checking the engine oil level requires a fiddly exercise with the trip computer: there's no dipstick, which is just plain stupid. -
Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - Diesel Pump Gone - How To Get It Fixed Cheaper 26 Aug 2011 (Forum)
It all started last week when the car started to cut out after starting from cold, two or three minutes into my journey once the car was warm everything was fine. One week later and im not able to start car, so much for 10k miles. My next step was to establish exactly how much this problem was going to cost to have put right, bearing in mind i did have some idea having read what others have said.
