  It got me thinking, what had failed so that the car couldn't have been pushed to the wide verge or central reservation on that stretch of road while the police temporarily cone off a lane or two?  Gearbox ECU failure so it was stuck in gear / 'Park'?  Total electrical failure? Any other ideas?  
• VW Golf - Clocked mileage 11 Nov 2021 (Forum)
  We had the car MOT’d and discovered that the last MOT mileage is nearly 14000 miles more than the current Odometer reading. The ECU mileage is more than the mileage on last year’s MOT so that points to the Odometer being wrong. The car was purchased from a VW main dealer and the bill of sale indicates a mileage lower than the current Odometer reading.

  This time however there were around 10 fault codes including the misfire, they all looked like they were ECU communication faults. Again the dealer has drove the car around and said its fine and cleared the codes. As I'm about a month out from 6 months, my next step is looking to return the car as its not fit for purpose and the dealer isn't fixing whatever the problem is.

  If i sit in traffic and have to use the clutch to start stop etc red warnings lights come up on the dash, error code P0830 is sent to the ECU. When i turn off the engine the car will shut down and can only be started once the code is cleared by an obd scanner. I am thinking if i can put in a toggle switch just for starting up etc then the issue that is occuring when in traffic etc will be resolved.

    Apparently the only real check is to couple up a simple garage laptop and read off the VIN from the ECU. Not the sort of thing most people have access to until the deal is done and at payment from a garage. The JLR dealer who checked the car in question and gave it a clear bill of health did not realise this and relied on the fact that the windscreen was a OR part!

  Hi all A few days ago I started my 407 one morning and the engine instantly stalled. After starting it again the ECU warning light came on and stayed on with a 'Depollution system faulty' message on the display. After half an hour of driving the light and message disappeared and hasn't come on since. A diagnostic check at a Peugeot dealer cleared the fault code but only pointed the technician to the fuel system in general, nothing specific.

  On Sunday, i got the fault light on (the one with the spanner, not the ECU one, highlighting a fault with something under the bonnet!). I stoppped the engine and it went out on the restart. However, on susbsequent starts, the light comes on again but goes off after 30 seconds or so.

  Get that chassis steam cleaned in the spring then coated in something like Bilt Hambers underbody waxes and you will still be driving that old beastie round in 20 years when almost all cars made today will be heading back hence they came in cube form, you will struggle to find an ecu anywhere on it and they were built to last and made to be serviced easily and worked on, so easy to keep them running.

  At the moment they have found that the inside of the Cat & Dpf have had there insides ripped out and they have traced the Management warning light as been ripped out,and two of the sensors could be iffy,at this moment in time it is still on diagnostic machine but the mechanics have told me there is a possibility it could be the ecu,does any one know of a guy who as a Peugeot Planet diagnostic machine Sandra

  I have removed the instrument console to check for any foul play but found nothing I since performed an instrument console test check which showed that the engine light will illuminate Now I am a bit confused/stumped Any ideas? ECU? Many thanks in advance HB

  Ive tried a salvage coil pack and nothing has helped.... any suggestions as my local garage are saying ecu whilst a local mechanic is saying to try a new coilpack There is no eml or fault codes

  It had the EGR value changed at 60000 miles which then started leaking at 67000 and had to have the hose pipes replaced. Then the ECU was reprogrammed at 91000 due to excessive white smoke but this didn't cure the problem and the hrad gasket was found to have blown and had to be rebuilt at 98185 on 17/07/2014. By 28/08/2014, six weeks later the car had done 103406 and the smoke was worst than ever.

  AA have been called out four times and suggested camshaft, crankshaft, temperature coolant sensors all of which have been replaced and made no difference. Lambda sensor also replaced. Ecu stripped down, immobiliser examined. Nothing puts it right, once it does get going it flies along fine.

  My 51 reg Corsa broke down flashing F yesterday and wouldn't do anything.Called AA they towed to to local garage.Local garage state will cost in region of £1800 and then it still might not be resolved and I might want to consider scrapping!This really is not an option. Am I right in thinking if I can get the ECU codes someone might be able to guide me in the right direction?I hope so because short of losing all my hair and the clothes off my back I am worried, very worried.Thanks for any help.

  Hi there, I am having issues with my semi automatic transmission,when starting the car and putting the transmission into auto it shows on the ecu screen as manual only and drives only up to 3rd gear initially and after 10 mins or so when warmed up, it suddenly changes to auto and then intermittently changes to manual again. This is an intermittent fault and does not happen every time I start the car, only first thing in the morning.

  (Dont know how the hell it was ever classified as a Cat D because besides the frame/clocks/lockset/ecu, everything else was either damaged/scuffed or junk) Plan was to track it, but now its nearly fixed I need to sell it, (debts building up) Now,  I am Really worried that I will get a huge fine if I apply for new V5 now and tell them I have had the bike since end september 2013.

  Ive had focus 05 plate for 6 month not one bit trouble with it it's got 118 k recently it's started to go into limp mode so far ivechanged fuel filter new rings on injectors egr cleaned turbo checked all is well with that thank god I've had it on a really good diagnostic and only real bad codes coming up are can or EEPROM could anything mechanical cause the ecu go crazy or would anybody know how much it would cost me to get new EEPROM or new memory as u can copy all your old problems to your new memory I've been told any help please I love this car it's done great cheers

  Hi was hoping for some advice, and opinions on my problem, I have loss of power, black smoke, the car with spanner light on after checking forums seemingly common fault with vauxhall combo 1.3 vans, no one seems to have the answer map/maf sensor, turbo, ecu/egr all syptoms I think of DPF not doing what it should. I was wondering what you thought and if you think it's worth getting the dpf removed? Van went down hill fast now very bad I'm thinking it maybe to late for me and not salvageable even if I remove dpf, should I give it a go or cut my losses?

  Pin 1 i belive is ground Pin two  4.99 Pin three 4.99 Pin four i get 0.1 Could someone PLEASE shead some light on this. does the map sensor actualy report back to the ecu to let it know theres to much boost? 
• Renault Espace - Will a Transit engine fit into a Renault Espace 22 Aug 2013 (Forum)
  My question is, would the likes of a transit TDI or banana engine fit in the bay? Obviously i would need to replace all auxilaries, ECU, manufacture mounts & bracketry etc, but Espaces offer in my opinion the best over all package and they do look good. If this is possible i would consider taking on the project, as if the engine fails it has to come out anyway so why not chuck in a recon'd one from a different make, which is more upto the job.
