  • excess on the road 16 Nov 2006 (Forum)
What we need to do is to ignore the rubbish about 4*4's destroying the environment and passing laws specifically to get 4*4's off the road. The reason being this is that 4*4's have become the icon of excess, hence the new 4*4 taxes being muted. Instead we need to tax truly excessive cars, from 4*4 like the range rover to saloons like the Mercedes S-class.
  • \'Ere we go. Again. 18 Apr 2004 (Forum)
How come I did that? That\'s a 2, shortly to be a 3 Harley household. All it needs now is Growlette to say she\'s infanticipating and penury looms. Not only that but there\'s another 14 months before I enjoy the UK Social Security\'s benificence after a lifetime of contributions which would have made several zillion times the same amount had it gone into a Standard & Poors tracker rather than serially incompetent seat warmers\' custody in successive UK governments.
  • Two Linux installations - Windows and Symbian S60 31 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Nokia`s PC suite (for example) just won`t run on Linux and you need a Windows box to download the several Gigs of the Ovi maps to the phone. Pity about that. And that Wine seems such a clunker if you try to use it to run many Windows apps under Linux.

  • VW Golf 1.4 TSI - Small claims court, private car sale 17 Oct 2017 (Forum)
They couldn`t find the problem and they began to mention having the timing chain replaced (to the tune of £1500, as a questimate) which "may" solve the problem, failing that there are no other obvious causes and they would have to strip the engine down to find out what`s going on. It`s sat on my drive now unused because I don`t trust it, I don`t particularly want to drive it, it`s just useless to me, and I have no more money to carry out these major repairs. This is starting to make me ill......................
  • Ford S-MAX - EU Directive on using NON Manufacturers parts. 24 Oct 2013 (Forum)
Hi, I have an S Max 2011 plate from new. My problem is that, this is the 3rd or 4th time that the tailgate lock has ceased to work. As soon as you shut it, it pops open again AND if you cannot get into the car quickly and shut  and lock all doors, it opens again.
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 02 1.6 High idle and creeping revs 19 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Then the revs will drop down to idle of 1200rpm. This will happen at any speed provided the engine is below 2000 rpm. It?s a bit annoying when in first and I?m creeping along in traffic as the revs pick up, the car starts to accelerate under it?s own power, the revs then increase as the speed increases and so on. It?s not doing my fuel or brakes any good.
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 01 2.0 Noise from rear brake(s) 23 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Seemed fine driving home Friday evening but having taken it out since for a decent run I have noticed an odd sound coming from the O/S rear brakes. I'm fairly certain they're disc brakes on these though haven't checked to be honest! The sound couldn't quite be described as a grinding but it's definitely a friction-like sound. Imagine clawing your nails lightly across a formica surface...!
  • M3's Value - please help! 8 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Ive been told that the Modena interior is particularly desirable being from BMW's Individual range. Also, black M3's are quite hard to find unlike silver and estoril blue - maybe this will reflect in the price? To be honest, i would just like to know how much the car is really worth! :-) Thanks, Chris
