Child car seats and airbags 11 Jul 2002 (Forum)
I just wanted to clarify - 1. Whether it is OK to fit a forward facing child seat to the front seat where a passenger "front" airbag is fitted? 2. Again, the seat in the same configuration as above but where there are "front" and "side" airbags fitted? In both cases the airbags can't be manually switched off. -

Cars with best heaters for cold oldies? 18 Jan 2013 (Forum)
I've always found Fords with small engines warm up in no time. My 2.8 Audi is useless at warming the cabin until at least 5 miles. Car testers provide data on all sorts of things but never how quickly the heater works. Why not? This would be a major consideration for me with my next car. I appreciate a really good heater probably indicates an inefficient engine which wastes heat, but for most of the year north of the 50th parallel this is a bonus! -
New minimalist car 16 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Whilst coming to terms with all the gadgets and creature comforts which make driving easier I am thinking what you actually need on a car, what can you do without? Do you need a rev counter or air con, heated seats and radios, turbos, multi changers cruise control etc etc. any market for a car with no frills? just the bits to make it go and stop and lights to show you the way at night. when its hot wind down windows and when its cold you just wear extra clothes. -

Toyota RAV4 - What is this hanging from the front of my car?? 13 Jul 2022 (Forum)

lexus gs450h, 2007 - replacement lexus mirror glass similar to gs450h 10 Jul 2017 (Forum)
I don't want to pay £120 for the glass, or £200 for an entire second hand mirror in the wrong colour (electric, heated, folding), so my question is: What similar mirror glass can i pick up for £10-£20, even if its slightly too small and not heated? Anything will do, thr rx400h mirror looks close, but even a mondeo or astra miror glass is fine, provided its not too big, and will fit inside the recess? -

Mercedes Benz E-Class W211 (2002 - 2009) - 07 2.2 damage to wiring harness in engine bay 19 Aug 2008 (Forum)
MB are proposing a repair by "cutting" out the damaged section of wire and soldering in a new section, the joints being protected by heat shrink tubing. Anyone else encounter a similar situation ? Would like comments on the proposed repair method; personally I have misgivings with regard to the long term effectiveness of the insualtion properties of the heat shrink tubing and it's weathertightness. -

Rover 420SLDT Starting Probs 21 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Hi,I was wondering if anyone has got any ideas regarding my starting problems.I went to start it this morning bearing in mind it was very cold with a heavy frost,I pre-heated it in the usual way but it wouldn't fire,I tried it again and once again there was no joy,now I know the glow plugs are ok as I checked them last weekend, the pre heat light comes on and goes out very quickly after about 4-5 seconds.I managed to get it started in the end by putting 1 jump lead on + and shorting the glow plugs out and then it started fine,it was almost as if it didn't preheat or for not long enough, has anyone got any ideas to help me out.I was wondering if the preheat relay was faulty??? -
Out of Date Tax Discs 29 May 2016 (Forum)
When it was necessary to display a tax disc on your windscreen it was illegal to show an out-of-date disc. Since the change in the law whereby a tax disc does not have to be shown, is it still illegal to have an out-of-disc. e.g. the last one you purchased before the changes?
