Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010) - 04 1.6 tdci Total Excellium Diesel 11 Feb 2009 (Forum)
He found the contacts on the ERG ( the thingy that recycles the exhaust to clean it ) were wet and the filter was also. Contacts dried and new filter now all is OK. Whilst researching this problem I came across a Lexus Owners club website and they were reporting the same problem with their cars also associated with Excellium Diesel . Has anybody else experienced problems with this fuel ? -
Is this a weird fantasy? 11 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I was recently left without a car as the old one died, so a few weeks shopping around and eventually got a great deal, however, two of the cars I viewed were: 1998 Rover 620 and 1995 Lexus LS400 - both of which were ready to die also. Always loved big luxury cars but could never quite afford these when they came out new (being 17/18 at the time) and no other current luxury car "does it for me". -
Vauxhall Cavaliers 27 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I bought that V6 for 1,500 pounds and in my opinion it was amazingly quick, comfortable and great handling. I now drive my wife's Lexus ES300 and would swap it for my old V6 in a heartbeat. What happened to Vauxhall which made them replace such a great all-round motor (quick, economical, and very very reliable) with a piece of junk basket case like the Vectra? -
Mazda 3 - £12-15k reliable and comfortable daily 11 Sep 2024 (Forum)
My main concern is whether any sort of driving enjoyment for the times I'm not commuting are too far removed Lexus CT200h, IS300h: unfortunately these cost more to insure, plus I personally don't like how dated the interiors or the infotainment systems are Volvo V60: unsure how likely to find anything worthwhile in budget, also unsure how reliability compares What are your thoughts on these options? -
Underside rust 18 Feb 2023 (Forum)
I have been wanting to upgrade for a considerable time. I do see a good deal, but they are often 150 miles from home. I saw a 2012 Lexus. I had a quick peek on the underside, and was shocked by the amount of underside rust. It was beyond reasonable. The car dealer told me this is common with this brand. This is supposed to be a premium brand and the price when new is £48k. -

Porsche Boxster - Replacing Porsche boxster with 4 seat car? 15 Feb 2013 (Forum)
I have a lovely boxster 2008 but my daughters start school soon and I need to find something with four seats. My wife drives a Lexus rx400h as the main family car. The second car will only cover 4000 miles a year. I also like something a but different I have loved my boxster and I have started to look around but nothing ticks all the boxes. -
Audi A3 Sportback (2004 - ) - Lead time schedules for Company Cars 2 Sep 2007 (Forum)
I've checked the lead time for orders placed in August on our company intranet and they are suggesting a wait of 7 - 8 MONTHS for what I consider a fairly standard hatchback. Anyone care to have a guess at what the delay is? BMW and Lexus all seem to be managing ok with lead times of around 10-12 weeks - I don't understand why it's so difficult to get my mitts on an Audi! Opinions welcome :-) -
Dependable Estate upto £5K 23 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Looking for an estate for my annual Continental trip in June. Took a Lexus GS300 last year but was so overloaded the Mrs said never again a normal saloon or hatchback. Have taken a Volvo V90, Escort, Cavalier in previous years and have completed my own maintenance on everything and they';ve got me there and back on the 2k trip without a hiccup (yet!!!). -
BMW 335d and service inclusive 21 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I am considering buying (amongst other things eg Lexus GS450h) a 335d saloon to replace my 5 year old MB C320. Question I have is around servicing. BMW offer Service Inclusive - full cost item is £1375 for 5 years or 60k miles (60k miles would apply to me as I have averaged 18k per year over last 5) and includes all services + brake pads / disks for the applicable period. -
Running costs, Accord coupe versus IS200 21 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I'm looking at 'nice' second-hand japanese cars,5 or 6 years old, and like the Honda Accord coupe (3 litre ones are quite cheap where I live)and Lexus IS200s. They're both suprisingly cheap to insure (not much more than my Punto believe or not)and I'm willing to take the hit on petrol costs as my mileage isn't great (about 15000 kms per year). -
