  • Toyota Carina E (1992 - 1997) - 92 2.0 Engine performance 9 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Hi I have a Toyota Carina 1992 it?s a 2.0 L petrol engine and it?s Automatic. The Car has a small problem the car starts and drive all right but when you go on the Motorway or a high way it doesn?t pull all right, the engine revs up. but I can see the engine struggles to pull in the motorway and it consumes lot of petrol.
  • Geting the car out and putting it away 5 Jun 2007 (Forum)
My daughter has just bought a house in an area which is mainly occupied by older (as in their 70?s+) people and she?s noticed that every morning they get their cars out of their garages and park them in the road. Then in the evening they put them away again, without the car ever having been anywhere.

  • Should I buy a Vauxhall Senator? 6 Jun 2006 (Forum)
With all that talk of the Senator rear lights on Bristols, its kinda made me hanker after one now! If I cant have the Bristol, I can have a car with the same lights :) I like both the 80's and 90's ones so which ones are best? 2.5, 3.0 or 3.0 24v? Which is the most reliable? Can you still get parts ok? I like the earlier cars most, but are they all rusty now? On of my neightbours has one of the later shape ones in a sort of gold colour and its really smart, I see it every morning!

  • What to use on dry bushes? Ford Escort. 29 Oct 2005 (Forum)
... and no mentions of plenty of water and a dash of miracle-gro ;-) Car is an 89 Escort, has been squeeking from the back for a while now and has just started creaking from the from suspension/turning right. I\'m thinking it\'s just dry bushes as the car has just passed it\'s MoT. My question is: what do I use on them? My list so far includes: Silicon grease, Lithium Grease, WD-40, 3-in-1, Engine Oil, etc. I just don\'t know which one would be best?
  • Peugeot 306 cam belt change 5 Sep 2005 (Forum)
Is this a difficult job (not technically as I have changed cam belts before), but just very awkward on the 306? Is it nesessary to remove the road wheel(s) etc. to get at the various parts? Any help or advice appreciated. Is it best to change any idler roller(s) also whilst I'm at it? Thanks in advance for anyone who is kind enough to comment.

Now the dealer has said that, I can't help being a little more cautious about buying on the net. Some of the cars are listed as preregistered. Should this be of concern? Thanks Keith S

Idles on 3 cylinders. Uses 1 litre oil per 100 miles - spitting it out through the exhaust pipe, leaving a nice oily smudge if the car is parked somewhere. I...
  • Omega MV6 wiper stalk 23 Mar 2003 (Forum)
On the end of the stalk there are three buttons - a centre one which pushes inwards towards the wheel, then an upper and lower one marked R and S respectively. It looks suspiciously like cruise control to me (R = RESUME, S - SET, button = ON/OFF), but it doesn't do anything. And the manual shows Cruise Control ("where fitted") on the left hand stalk but nothing on the right hand...
  • Cheap Brake Pads 15 Mar 2003 (Forum)
I noticed the item in today\'s paper \"Warp Factor True\" (406 with warping brake discs). It reminds me of my same experience when my Rover 218 turbo diesel was a company car and the lease company garage kept replacing discs. It finally appeared that the cause was cheap brake pads that caused immense heat build up.

  • Xantia electrics 20 Oct 2002 (Forum)
As s**s law would dictate in this cold weather, the heater fan for the passenger compartment has given up the ghost along with the rear screen demister. I've tested the fan which works fine, so it can't be that, so therefore resorted to stripping the dashboard out to see if there was a loose connection as the fan sometimes worked, sometimes didn't.
  • I feel good....... 23 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Now I feel prepared for the Saturday routine, I've now got the boys out of bed and will shortly be taking them to football practice, a spot of DIY followed by feet up to watch the Scots defeat the French in the rugby. (OK the last thing might be a bit hopeful!) I do like having a bike. Rob S
