Jaguar XKR-S (2008 - ) - Warranty problem after service confusion. 11 Aug 2009 (Forum)
But what gets me is that they did the steering and the converters under warranty, and the car had been running perfectly until the service. The official version is this. Due to the non service an d the fact that the engine oil would have caused damage prior to the 24k service they will not be held liable. -
Nissan Micra (1992 - 2003) - Determining the market value for a car ins claim 6 Feb 2008 (Forum)
They told me this value did not affect the premium or the value at the time of settlment which wouldbe the market value at the time of the loss.) - 10 days ago, whilst doing the school run my wife met with the accident. An 18 year old man drove straight out of his home driveway into the front of her car. Luckily there were no injuries. The man hasn't admitted fault but there it is very clear that the fault is his -
Hijacking - worth reading. 23 Sep 2003 (Forum)
A cop for more than 15 years, he has served with the murder and robbery as well as the car-theft units, and he has the bullet wounds to prove it. Nowadays he runs a private anti-hijack company that specialises in educating drivers and companies how to avoid being hijacked. Thanks to the Matrix car-recovery company, who sponsored a course at the NHPA, I was able to attend a seminar recently. -

Speed cameras examined 28 Apr 2015 (Forum)
Many more will be installed over the next two years as the smart network, characterised by up to five running lanes, including the former hard shoulder, as well as variable speed limits, expands. The advantage of a Hadecs 3 camera is that it can be mounted on a roadside pole and scan up to five lanes, whereas its predecessor, the Hadecs 2, which is still in use on motorways with variable speed limits elsewhere in the UK, can photograph only one lane and must be mounted on an overhead gantry. -
Cuba Fly Drive 29 May 2008 (Forum)
A small comfort was that even dual-band mobile phones worked and the signal strength was excellent absolutely everywhere. I didn?t run over anybody, the car was returned in one piece, and we got our deposit back ? what a relief. Never, ever again. -
Vauxhall Astra H (2004 - 2009) - Don't ever buy a New Astra..... 14 Mar 2008 (Forum)
No fault has been found in this area. However, Mr deleted has explained that no vehicle will run as smoothly with the air-conditioning on, as more load is put on the engine and it has to work harder. 7. Air con smelly after switching off. When your vehicle is returned for the replacement of the CIM and keys, deleted will carry out an air-conditioning flush to alleviate this. 8. -

It wasn't until the weekend when i got around to looking and found where the fuel isolation switch was. The car runs fine, with no damage to the radiator or anything as the impact eneded up being on the passenger side. The crash damage is as follows: dented bumper, slightly buckled wings, one smashed headlight (passenger side) and the other headlight has a broke clip, damaged bumper and damaged front panel. -

How crooks are stealing cars without a key 16 Mar 2015 (Forum)
Taken from autocar website If you’d stolen a Range Rover and were, one Thursday this month, triumphantly driving it down the A13 from London to Tilbury Docks to stash it in a container on a ship bound for Africa, your luck was just about to run out. Positioned on the eastbound carriageway of this busy road, on a section between Dagenham and the Dartford Crossing, was a police car fitted with an automatic numberplate recognition (ANPR) system that alerts officers to vehicles recorded as being linked to crime. -

Ford Transit - Help with independent dealer 21 Dec 2013 (Forum)
I have to be in the West Midlands on Monday with a van for the fitting, and it's looking like I'll have to cancel. If he says he has fixed the van, and it runs, am I still, legally, entitled to demand a full refund, based on everything you have read above with the on-going problems. If he says it's fixed, I then have a 300-mile round trip where I will have no faith on whether I will actually make it there and back again, and will it last a reasonable amount of time? -
Cheaper than cycling - Recommended to Merc owner 27 Apr 2013 (Forum)
It also has body coloured bumpers so it doesn’t look like an unfinished prototype. If you need a biffabout car that can be run for pennies and that hasn’t been tainted by four previous owners that would be the one to buy. It’s likeable, and not just because it’s cheap. I think you might even grow to love it. -
VW - Can you trust Volkswagen dealers - a warning 30 Nov 2012 (Forum)
The dealer said this exchange was only applicable in the event of mechanical issues (i.e. car breaking down), as it cost them money to run the scheme. I had to go through the inconvenience of ringing VW customer services to get a VW dealer just to honour their own policy. -
First wheels 7 May 2007 (Forum)
Being a left-hooker my car had this hole in the right place; cars for the British market had a longer lever skewed to the right, an arrangement that worked perfectly well but looked messy. The linkage like all the Citroën's running gear was well-designed and solid, but the synchromesh had gone and I quickly learned to double-declutch on all gearchanges, up as well as down. This, rushing round London, caused the clutch cable to fail at Denham on the way to Oxford one evening. -
Review of 3 Scenics 8 Sep 2004 (Forum)
You still have the option of applying and releasing it manually via a discreet lever in the dashboard. Although there are 2 ?sunroofs? running the length of the car, only the front one actually opens. It lifts up and slides back on top of the rear one but can be very blustery at speeds. My car also has steering adjustment for height as well as rake. -
Mazda 3 - Mazda 3 2.2 d engine failure - warranty problem 13 May 2015 (Forum)
I rang a lot of independent garages near where I live, unfortunately none of them could access the Mazda DSR, so it went to Halfords, as they were the only ones who could do the digital service entry, and I was running out of time. I'd looked in the service manual, and the only thing not included in the Halfords major service was the "Fuel injection inspection". I rang Halfords and asked if this would be included, and whether their major service would keep my warranty valid, and he confirmed that it would. -
BMW 5 Series F11 - BMW second hand issues 23 Feb 2015 (Forum)
I again took a morning off work and on 18 December drove the 60 miles to the garage to collect the car. I was shocked to see that the wheels still had damage on, the rear bumper now had runs in the paintwork, the front bumper had been partly corrected but missing the 4” scratch on the lower front and the bird dropping stains and dent were all still present along with the untouched stone chips. -
Getting even the San Francisco way 10 Jan 2004 (Forum)
You can call me what you will, but know this: I go by the rules, the laws, and I expect everybody else to obey them too. It is enough that I have to risk life and limb when I ride my bicycle to work, dodging idiots running red lights, or talking on cell-phones and not paying attention, etc. But when I come home I want peace and calm and order. Yeah, so maybe I do have too much free time on my hands. Anyway, recently in a newsgroup I had a debate with some yuppie about the egging of cars. -
A very detailed explanation of how DPFs work 2 Jan 2012 (Forum)
The porous substrate in the filters interior consists of thousands of small parallel channels running in the exhausts longitudinal direction, adjacent channels in the filter are alternately plugged at each end. This arrangement forces the exhaust gases to flow through the porous walls, which acts as the filters medium.
