  • Volkswagen Passat water pump 5 Jan 2011 (Ask HJ)
My 2002 passat 2.0-litre 8 valve petrol froze up due to lack of anti freeze. I let the car thaw but when started it has no heat and built up pressure very...
  • Polo diesel poor starting 31 Jan 2002 (Forum)
This seems to be helped if I turn the key off when the glow-plug light goes off, then back on again and put some more heat into the plugs before starting. The problem is far worse if the car has been left for a couple of hours, i.e. not time to get properly cold. Then the start-up is horrendously uneven and noisy, unless I do the extra glow-plug heat routine.
  • Audi A4 (1995 - 2000) - Safe to move front tyres to back? 18 Jan 2009 (Forum)
My car (1996 A4 1.8) pulls to the left, when I swap the front tyres with each other, it pulls equally to the right, so I conclude the front tyres are worn rather than the tracking being drastically out. They have 4mm tread.

  • Focus - Fuel saving - head up display 4 Oct 2014 (Forum)
I have developed a prototype of new type of fuel saver which shows up on the windscreen as a head up display. It is non electronic and potentially inexpensive.  You can see a short video of it in action by entering ;  G ZERO FUEL SAVER  into youtube or Google. I would be grateful for  any comments or observations.

  • skoda octavia ambiente 2001 MY 26 Oct 2004 (Forum)
anybody got a 2001 MY Ambiente ? does it have a low fluid level indicator for the windscreen washer ?. Mine has no working indicator at the moment, but I think it had when I bought it last year. If it should, i'd like to get it before the warranty expires, but the dealer says it was never fitted to that model, while skoda customer services say it was ?

  • Why are engines in the front? 2 Apr 2009 (Forum)
What prompted this - well was out shopping with the family at the weekend, must have had to park in about a dozen different places, I always reverse park in car parks but realised that it would be easier to get into my "boot" if it was at the front rather than the back!
  • 2005 Volkswagen Polo 1.2 E (55) - Front Suspension Creaking 3 Apr 2013 (Forum)
The front suspension is creaking on my car when I go over bumps, potholes etc. Even if I lightly bounce the front end of car myself, it creaks too. It's only started doing it since we had all the snow and a lot of salt has been on the road.
  • Vauxhall Astra F (1991 - 1998) - 03 1.4 Front strut top bushes 12 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I changed the front strut top bushes at 80,000 because the front of the car was not sitting level (and I thought I'd change boith sides although only one side was actually causing the prob). The car's now done 124,000 and the left hand top bush has developed some cracks in the rubber insert again.
  • Front fog lights and MoT test 16 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Hi all, Could someone please tell me whether the condition of the front foglights is a testable item? I vaguely remember one place (4-ish years ago) failing my car due to a cracked glass, whereas the place I've used for the last two (a different car) have not said anything about both lights being broken!
