  • Tightening up roof-lining material 30 Apr 2004 (Forum)
My car has an after market glass electric s/roof fitted. It's an extremely good one but the car is 8 now and where the original rooflining was re-applied to the sliding panel underneath the glass roof, it has become a little bit creased.
  • Golf thermostat 6 Jan 2004 (Forum)
One of my customers has been fiddling as his car is over heating. He has replaced the thermostat. I'm fitting a new rad on fri. but I wanted to check if he had the thermostat the right way round. If I remember these can be fitted both ways. the car is a 1600 f-plate with the W-pump and thermostat at the bottom of the engine, with the thermostat inside the pump but joining the bottom radiator hose.

  • TV information ad 15 Mar 2021 (Forum)
Seems like the powers that be have got the message removing the hard shoulders on motorways was not a good idea. A bloke is breaking down, two insects on his windscreen sing to him to go left. Lo and behold he conveniently finds a yellow pull in area. Break down on a smart motorway and you don't make a pull in you are in serious trouble.

  • Insects 14 May 2018 (Forum)
In the past, I recall my windscreen being plastered with dead insects after a drive in the sunshine, now I know we haven’t had much sun lately, but it never happens anymore. The other day a solitary moth on the screen sparked my memory, where have they all gone?
  • Renault Clio - Bonnet Problem Question 20 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Though Renault have admitted that clio's need their bonnet catch checked free of charge at their dealers, has anyone had difficulty claiming back excess insurance monies after the bonnet catch has failed and blown up against the windscreen (not a nice experience)? • Strange recalls 6 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Saw a Vauxhall Chevette today and it reminded me of when my cousin had one and going along the motorway once, the headlamp came off and came through her windscreen! Chevettes subsequently had a recall that involved putting some sort of clip on the headlamp to hold it in place. This clip was actually visible from the outside of the lamp! Any other strange recalls?

  • Skoda - 09 2.0 Keeping New Alloy Wheels Clean 22 Jul 2009 (Forum)
My new car will have a protective paint sealant (I know , probably snake oil) but the garage refused to apply the sealant to the wheels with vague caveats about the heat from the brakes. Anyone successfully protected their wheels?
  • Winter running 26 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Since the dip in temperature round these parts, the only way I can get my motorbike to register anywhere near normal on the water temperature gauge is to use the old trick of blocking off half the radiator with a piece of cardboard. That got me wondering if owners of modern cars with big power outputs and bigger air intakes have to do similar in winter to get any heat into the engine ? Not sure if this is miscellaneous or green motoring.
  • Volvo 760 door mirror 9 Apr 2005 (Forum)
My mum has broken the glass in the door mirror of her Volvo 760 in a narrow road. It's electric and heated so will be expensive to replace the whole unit on an old car. But I had a closer look today and the casing is intact, only the glass is cracked. Anyone know if just the glass can be replaced or does she have to get the whole unit replaced by Volvo?
