  • 7 seats - Zafira or V70? 11 Jun 2001 (Forum)
We're looking for a replacement for our ageing 405 SRi. 7 seats would be useful for occasional use ie friends/out-laws etc. I was considering an import or a used V70, though I wonder about the rear facing seats in the latter. Someone I know who has one says that drivers don't tailgate you when you have children in the back seats! Volvo chap says that the seats are in the safety cage area.
  • Suzuki Alto (2009 - ) - Spot-on marketing from Suzuki 24 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I'm sure the previous Charade would have sold in much greater numbers had it been decently marketed. Perhaps given the current economic climate Daihatsu are pulling the plug on importing it... small car, small profits after all. Rob.
  • FAQs 16 May 2003 (Forum)
Perhaps that helps to explain why many people simply bypass your excellent and ever-expanding FAQ site - I'm just worried you'll come on here after a bad day and blow a fuse when someone has asked "Where can I buy cars in the UK at close to mainland European prices? Also tell me import warranties and import finance."!!! All t'best Dan J
  • Driving Test 9 Jun 2025 (Forum)
Before we go further in this article, we need to clear the air on if you can appeal and it’s just not a wasted effort.    Yes, you can appeal your driving test result, but it’s important to know that an appeal will not overturn the result or grant you a pass .   Instead, an appeal challenges the way the test was conducted. If successful, you may be entitled to a free retest.
  • Any - Which car? 31 Jul 2024 (Forum)
We are a one car household so do fairly high mileage, both some city miles and also regular longer journeys. Would want to keep the car for several years, reliability, good warranty and decent mpg important - currently getting 60mpg from our diesel Peugeot. Appreciate electric different and would consider an EV but not sure where to start. Not entitled to any workplace scheme for those. We need decent space due to dog/holidays/hobbies etc.
  • Citroen Ami 4 Nov 2021 (Forum)
I notice that Citroen are now taking orders/reservations for the Ami. You pay a £250 refundable fee and presumably get first pick when imports start into the UK- which they say will be spring 2022.  I'm almost tempted to throw in £250, especially with the very low cost. It would suit my needs for driving around Birmingham, even if there are a few 40 limit roads on my way to work!
  • All - navigation destinations 28 Apr 2021 (Forum)
Surely it would be simple enough to have an industry wide format so that all GPS systems can export / import the 'Name', 'Lat', 'Long', 'Post Code' details irrespective of the old / new model of car.  That way it would not matter how an individual system actually uses the location data - they would just convert them to a usable internal format.
  • Any - Utility companies 18 Aug 2020 (Forum)
Just received a business utility bill for a company that was (and may still be) owned by the previous occupant of our home. Bear in mind we moved to this address in early 2007. The letter said it was important, so I though it best to do my bit. The non-geographic telephone number on the envelope did not work (number not in use or some such guff), so I Googled the utility company in question and was given the same number plus a "normal" landline number for 'accounts queries', which I dialled.
  • Nissan Qashqai - How to wash my car? 13 Aug 2020 (Forum)
I saw a video or 2. Videos are too long and don't give any product recommendations. IMPORTANT : my Nissan Qashqai has a glass roof! And I can't reach the centre standing on the outside of the car! Do I need a telescope sponge or something? Wheels and alloys, do I need anything special for these?
  • OBDII Bluetooth Scan Tools 25 Nov 2019 (Forum)
If it’s reading too high i will probably buy a lower thermostat from an earlier iteration of the v8, but seeing as it is a Jap import it may already have the lower temp thermostat fitted from factory.. Has anyone got a recommendation please?
  • Buying a second hand car with tow bar fitted 22 Nov 2018 (Forum)
My concern would be that towing does put some extra stress on the engine/clutch and good maintenance and sensible driving are important. Would people be happy if the service history was all up to date and there was no signs of any damage round the back end?  Buying second hand always carries the risk of how good the previous driver(s) was (unless you are buying from the local vicar).
  • Any - Couriers 24 Feb 2018 (Forum)
As most of us will know, a certain courier company has been in the headlines this week for non delivey of chicken. The same company delivers to me as I import stuff from Germany and they use the same courier. They sent me some kit earlier this week, but some of the parts were wrong, so they arranged for the courier to collect them yesterday (Thursday), Guess what, nobody called to collect it, BUT the same courier delivered some more stuff, but this driver would NOT take the collection, (I thought these business were supposed be "green").
  • Toyota - Technology too smart for itself 6 Sep 2017 (Forum)
This guy bought a Japanese import hybrid and only got one key which he lost.  Toyota couldn't get him another key and he ended up having to pay big money to get the car computer hacked to reprogram another key. https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/technology/hacker-helps-family-recover-minivan-after-losing-one-of-a-kind-car-key/ I am told that this isn't the only make where you get one key and have to have the computer reprogrammed if you lose it.
  • 1972 MGB GT 1.8 - Buying a 1972 MGB GT 22 Jan 2017 (Forum)
So I'm in a quandary and would seek the advice of somebody with more knowledge than me, as I do not want to diidle my friend, because friendship is much more important than money. The car is in pristine conditionwith no rust, but has not been used for about 5 years.
  • BMW 3 Series Touring - Buying a used BMW estate - Budget of £4,000 18 Apr 2016 (Forum)
It will probably be doing around 10,000 miles per year but not a lot of motorway driving - going to be used for commuting 7 miles to work. Economy is more important than sheer power as my ragging days are over with a little one around now. With regards to transmission - I used to much prefer manuals but am much less fully these days.   Any advice for what to look for would be ver much appreciated.
  • Audi A4 avant 3.0 v6 245bhp Tdi Quattro july 2012 - Which summer tyres to buy ? 21 Feb 2016 (Forum)
I soon need to buy 4 new summer tyres for my Audi A4 avant 3.0 v6 245bhp Tdi Quattro (july 2012) and would like to know which summer tyres you would recommend for this car, given the following :   - Purchase price is NOT my first consideration. - Having low noise levels, smoothness of ride and minimum vibrations are very important to me, especially at high speeds. - It has to be good on French motorways when doing 80mph. Is it worth buying the more expensive Audi "AO" branded tyres which have modified treads specially for Audi cars or is this a gimmick ?
  • lexus ct200h - Cars with Futuristic / Technical / interior design 7 Oct 2015 (Forum)
Hi all, I'm looking to buy a (used) car (Budget is under £10000), and one of the most important things in a car for me is the interior design (dashboard, center console, etc).   I find interior designs such as Lexus CT200h (with all the back lights such as gree light when you go "Eco" mode or red light when you go "Sport" mode), or the ldashboard layout of the Honda CRZ to be very beautiful.

  • Tyre longevity, treadwear rating and EU marking 8 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Dunlop Bluresponse, Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance, as well as Michelin Energy Saver Plus which all claim significantly lower roll resistance/noise etc. However having a significantly longer lasting tyre is still important to me but no information on treadwear seem to be available.
  • Hybrid - Nearly New Car 28 Mar 2013 (Forum)
I have decided I need a new car for the UK I use to travel hundreds of miles a week but now I am retired I am lucky if I travel 50miles ,I once used a Toyota Prius Spirit for a month and it was very boring but well equiped.I have had look around on Autotrader and have narrowed my choice down to three types an Insight,Civic or a Prius the Prius must be a Spirit version because of the sat nav the other two its not important what model it is. All three cars have a good reputation for build quality and have an extended warranty on the batteries I am tempted by the Insight as I like the looks on the downside I cannot see anybody who makes a towbar for these cars all I want to fit is my towbar mounted bike rack.Has anbody any views on these cars or any another that will fit the bill.
