front tyres needing replaced put on front or back 4 Oct 2018 (Forum)
my fwd needs the the front two tyres replaced.ive read its best to move the rear tyres to the front and put the best on the back, im also planning on getting a wheel alignment and read they are pointless on worn tyres, so would i get the best from the alignment with the new tyres one the front as its the only adjustable area on the car ? -
Mazda MX-5 Mk1 1997 - Heated rear window wiring 10 Oct 2011 (Forum)
There's an existing female connector just behind the passenger seatbelt post, then there are 2 'spare' connectors by the battery in the boot; one white/opaque with wiring of 1-2 mm thickness attached and a black one with approx 4 mm thick wiring, presumably carrying a heavier current. I believe one of these two would be used when an electric aerial is fitted, however this car has a manual 'screw-in' aerial. Finally, there's a further black 'spare' connector just behind the carpet in the boot, close to the number plate. Excuse the lengthy post - I'm sure this is an easy job once I know which of the car's connectors come into play, and would like the satisfaction of doing it myself if I can. -

Half dead cat? 1993 vw polo 8 Jun 2005 (Forum)
It seemed to be coming from the exhaust system, but where exactly, was hard to pinpoint. Then, I thought I had found the problem. The next time I was under the car, the centre box was blowing at the weld from the silencer to the pipe. This weld had failed, which allowed the rearmost pipes to twist, letting it hang lower that it should. In turn, this was allowing certain parts to catch the heat shields, which is what I thought was causing the rattle, which was starting to get worse. -
Omega query: tie-rods fouling alloys. 4 Jul 2003 (Forum)
Before (only that morning) I could drive on "full lock" - no grating noises from the front wheels though! (Even I can tell it's full lock because the steering refuses to turn any more and PS pump starts complaining loudly). Can someone shed some light on this please - fortunately I don't need to use the car this week but want to speak to the garage and would like to be armed with a few facts. -

Handbrake icing up 26 May 2003 (Forum)
I've got a Fiat Marea Weekend and if we have a particularly severe frost or icy night the handbrake freezes on and it is practically impossible to release the handbrake in the morning. During snowy conditions this can be particularly dodgy as the car slides all over the place until the heat generated by the car's motion releases the brake. It can take up to ten miles until it fully releases. Has anybody else experienced this and is there a cure? -
Air-con 26 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Advice please on the best way to use the air-con system on modern cars. Honest John suggest use at all times? My friends are not convinced, claiming high fuel bills and loss of power. Any setting of the heating system to the screen on modern cars automatically turns the A/C on, so is the manufacturer and honest John correct or should A/C be used more sparingly (cold/weekly/or unless you need it)? -
