Toyota Rav 4 2003 - Heated rear window not working 28 Dec 2023 (Forum)
Checked the fuse which is ok but there is a relay in the system and a cable leading from the main body to the rear door which gets a lot of pulling. The cable is contained within a rubber tube. Is there any common design faults on this car which may help me to isolate the fault please ? Checking the terminals on the window involve stripping the plastic covers . -
BMW 2 Series Active Tourer - BMW 2 series active tourer - reliability 10 Nov 2023 (Forum)
I’m looking at buying a 4 year old 2 series active tourer, and can’t decide between the 2.0 petrol or diesel variant, both automatic, I cover up to 15000 miles a year, quite a lot of short journeys during the week but 2-300 mile journeys at weekends. What would be the most reliable car? Thanks -
Citroen C4 Grand Picasso - Unable to MOT due to mileage display 11 Jul 2022 (Forum)
My car was in for service and MOT yesterday and I received a message telling me they could not do the MOT as the display has a fault that covers the top corner of the last number of the mileage. It will not allow me to post the picture here but the full mileage can be seen it just has a black mark over the very top corner of the last digit but you can see that no other numbers follow. -
Ford Focus Active - 2019 being sold as new 12 Jul 2021 (Forum)
Looking for a replacement car and came across a 2019 Ford Focus Active offered by Yeovil Ford that looks to be unregistered as it still has the factory seat covers and only 5 miles on the clock. It's being sold with 36 months warranty and first MOT due in mid 2024. -
Ford Focus 1.5 Diesel ST line. 2019. - Clutch pedal. 16 Dec 2019 (Forum)
Hi, I’ve just bought the above vehicle and there is a weird step at the end of the clutch pedal travel. The car has stop/start and only covered 3000 miles. Does anybody know if there is a return spring modification kit, or any ideas. It’s almost like there is a really high tensioned spring on the pedal which causes moving of tricky. -

They took it to a Ford dealer who stripped the enginge to discover that the crankshift has broken up and have advised that the engine needs replaced. Any advice on what could have caused this would be much appreciated. Car is a 62 plate and covered around 38K. Serviced in Dec. Oil and water levels were fine and no warning lights were on. -
BMW 318D - Thinking of buying 318d - What to look for??? 1 Jun 2016 (Forum)
Hi, I have been offered an e90 shape 318d. The owner bought it as an ex-demo car when a few months old, it has has bmw service history up to 2013 then any work was done independently It has covered 150k, what should I be looking out for upon viewing it in terms of mechanical problems specific to this model? -
Not sure what to do next ? 6 Jun 2014 (Forum)
I can't seem to find a way to sort this shift lock from being stuck, without sticking a thin object to it, to unstick it. I called the car delaers where I bought the Qashqai and explained that it needed to be fixed (I assume it's covered under the warranty?), but he said I had to bring it to their showrooms. They are at least a 2 hour drive away. -
Seat Ibiza ST 1.2 tdi Ecomotive - How long will the engine last? 5 Mar 2013 (Forum)
How many miles can I expect the engine to last as it's only a 1.2!!? I get the car serviced at the correct intervals at the supplying dealer. I've done 50000 so far and cover 600 miles a week on mainly dual carraige way / motorway. Are there any known problems with this engine yet? -
£260 for a fourth service on a Ford Fiesta 1.25 11 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Is this too much as the garage I bought the car from , who sell Hyundais but also have a Ford service centre, stated that this is a major service where the brake fluid needs to be changed as well as normal service items? I do have a service plan, which will cover £ 185 of the cost, but is this too much for the service. -

Mitsubishi - Alloy replacement 6 Feb 2010 (Forum)
The boss drove through a pot hole and knackered a wheel. The insurance company have been very good and covered the cost but said I could do what I liked with the cheque as the OEM alloy is £500. I can get 4 Zito alloys for less than that if I want but am wondering whether I should stick to originals. The car is 5 years old and I will be looking to sell within the next 6-9 months. -
Hyundai Getz (2002 - 2008) - Servicing Costs 26 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Before I ring the local dealer (who is a multi franchise and has a poor reputation) does anyone have a ballpark figure of what they should be charging. I wouldn't put it past them to try and bump the price up. The car theoretically has another two years warranty to run, but I bet it's pretty selective in what it covers. -

Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2004 1.8 Would the reversing lights be warrantied? 24 Jun 2008 (Forum)
It has been traced to being a possible fault with the connection between the gearbox and the electrics. Help would be appeciated, Thanks {subject header amended to give a brief mention of the question being asked} -
Saw my first new Mondeo estate on the road today 11 Sep 2007 (Forum)
What a good looking car. First time I've seen one in the flesh. Despite Ford's intention of trying to get it "up market", the one I saw today was a true workhorse already - ladders on the roof rail/rack, filthy paintwork, and alloys covered in brake dust. -
Audi 80 TDI Clutch Judder 12 Jun 2007 (Forum)
This mainly happens first thing in the morning and once the clutch has been used a few times it settles down, although the take up is very sharp, with no comfort zone. The car has covered 120K and is on its original clutch. (K Reg). I can just about live with the problem, but would welcome any advice. -
Gap Insurance 20 Feb 2007 (Forum)
When placing an order for a new Honda CRV recently (No HP involved) , the salesman offered my son-in-law Gap Insurance to cover a period of 3 years from new for about £325. I really know little about this type of insurance, except that it can be useful if a car purchased on HP is written off following an accident and the amount paid by the insuring company is less then the total amount due to the HP Company.
