  • Peugeot 206 - poor wiper blades/system 3 May 2012 (Forum)
the wiper motor is probaly not as good as it used to be, but i'm my view it's down to the windscreen design. on the far right driver side about 2" of the wiper coverage area is missed by the strangely sloping/curved windscreen... is this normal or maybe we have a poorly manufactured screen.
  • Audi A6 - water leaks into the interior 29 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Ive taken the pollen filter out, battery etc to check all drain holes are unblocked. Last night I put a hose on the windscreen and the water started coming through the air inlet (through the pollen filter) the pollen filter was soaked. Ive checked the plastic around the windscreen and all seems fine. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.
  • Renault Megane Coupe - electrical fault 24 Nov 2005 (Forum)
Hello, Please can someone give me some advice on an electrical fault with have with my Renault Megane Coupe T reg (1999) 16v 2 litre. The lever for the windscreen wiper has stopped working, and instead the switch that is for the air conditioning now turns the wipers on and off. The wipers go very slow when turned on by the air conditioning switch, and hardly any air is blown out from the air conditioning unit making it very hard to demist the windscreen and also potentially dangerous to drive when the window is fogged up and it is raining.

  • Peugeot 106 1997 1.1 - MOT - CO 2nd fast idle, & idle speed too high 21 May 2014 (Forum)
ie would cataclean still remaining in the system at the MOT testing, help lower the CO) Tonight, I have taken the lambda sensor out and heated it up with a blow torch. It reads up to 0.8v, but I haven' wired it up in real life to get actual values when the car is running. Should I be overly concerned about the "003) Exhaust engine idle speed too high [7.3.D.2]" as Haynes says this is controlled by the ECU.

  • Any - Baby wipes and glass cleaning. 4 Sep 2021 (Forum)
I used some generic baby wipes to clean some bird poo from the car and windows the other evening. The next morning, that area of the windscreen was clear of water, so cleaned all the glass, inside and out, all of the windows again with baby wipes, and then took the car off to the self service jetwash, and then cleaned windows after with glass cleaner and kitchen roll.
  • Reattaching rearview mirror 30 Mar 2018 (Forum)
Any suggestions for an effective adhesive to do this?. I tried a sticky pad one from Halfords and while it did hold the mirror to the windscreen, it wobbled far too much. I checked a few other adhesive products at B&Q that were not car specific, but after reading the package further they stated that they were not recommended for car rearview mirrors, despite claiming to be effective on glass, so I didn't bother buying.
  • Mercedes-Benz C-Class - Wheel Clamps really? 5 Dec 2014 (Forum)
I was suprised last night to see the Car next to mine had been wheel clamped in the Milton Keynes (meteor) train station car park. I assumed that this practice had been stopped in 2012? The driver returned and removed a notice from his windscreen.
  • Ford - car that got under your skin 8 Jul 2009 (Forum)
nice story on today's Telegraph website about a man who found found piece of Ford Cortina windscreen embedded in his chin 30 years after the accident that put it there. He'd always thought the small lump on his chin was a harmless cyst, but was amazed when a shard of glass popped out when he cut himself shaving.

  • Skoda Octavia I (1998 - 2004) - 2000 1.9tdi Heater flap stuck 22 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Hi My Octavia is fitted with the Climotronic Heating/venterlation system it has developed a problem where it only produces hot air. If i have the heat control set on anything less than hi i can hear a clicking noise from behind the dash. I believe that the heat flap must be stuck fully open and the clicking noise to be the motor trying to close the stuck flap. my question is does any body kwow how to the reach and free the flap without taking the heater distibution box out as it looks a very time consuming exersize.
  • Citroen Saxo (1997 - 2003) - 1.4 '96 - Cat heat shield 7 Nov 2007 (Forum)
A quick follow-up question to my last thread. We have found that the heat-shield on the CAT of SWMBO's Saxo has come loose at one end. A colleague (ex-mechanic) who looked at it suggested I should be able to bond it back together as the shield has just come away from another piece of metalwork.

  • Cars with the most headroom 23 Sep 2021 (Forum)
In my wonderful Yaris, with the seat as low as it will go, my head brushes the ceiling and my eyes are level with the (folded up) sun visor.   I'm looking to trade up now but I don't know what to look at - which cars have the most headroom?  Convertibles are out of the question as my head will undoubtedly poke above the windscreen, which can't be safe. Any advice, please?
  • Car covers 19 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Now that we're getting near winter windscreen scrapery again, I'm interested in getting a car cover to ease the morning pain. Looks like 25-30 quid buys you a basic one, 60-75 buys a breathable zipped lined one and more than that I can only surmise buys you a butler to take it on and off again.
  • Honda CR-V - Differential seized 8 Jul 2016 (Forum)
On taking my 2006 Honda CR-V to the main dealer following a recall they informed me that the rear differential is seized and to un-seize it will require the differential to be heated up in order to free it. They also advise it will cost in the region of £400 to do this. Is this a common fault in CR-V's? What does heating it up entail? And is £400 reasonable for this?
